World Environment Day 2026 Observance

The Department of Dravyaguna Vigyana, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amritapuri, observed World Environment Day 2026 by organizing an Environmental Awareness Programme at S.V.H.S.S., Clappana, on 4th June 2026.

The programme was conducted with the objective of fostering environmental responsibility among students, enhancing awareness about climate-related challenges, and inspiring the younger generation to contribute towards building a greener and more sustainable future.

The event commenced with the distribution and plantation of five medicinal plant saplings in the school courtyard. The saplings distributed included Rasna, Usheera, Dadima, Sahachara, and Kadamba, highlighting the importance of medicinal plants in healthcare and environmental conservation. Teachers, Plus Two students of Scouts and Guides, PG Scholars from Amrita School of Ayurveda, along with the Manager, Principal, and PTA President of S.V.H.S.S., Clappana, actively participated in the plantation initiative.

An interactive awareness session was subsequently conducted on the theme “Nature and Climate: Building a Sustainable Future.” The session focused on the significance of environmental conservation, the growing impact of climate change on ecosystems and human health, sustainable lifestyle practices, and the crucial role of youth in protecting the environment. The medicinal uses of the distributed plants were also explained in detail.

The programme further emphasized the wisdom of Ayurveda in promoting a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Discussions highlighted how traditional knowledge systems advocate sustainable living practices that support both individual health and environmental well-being.

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Department is also organizing activities for college students on 5th June 2026, including “Best out of Waste” and “Mobile Photography” competitions, along with a sapling plantation programme at the Amrita Herbal Garden.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the school community and successfully created awareness regarding environmental protection and climate action. It encouraged students to actively engage in tree plantation and conservation activities while promoting environmentally responsible behavior and sustainable practices.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants that the practice of sustainability should not be limited to the observance of World Environment Day alone but should be embraced as a continuous responsibility through conscious actions and eco-friendly choices in daily life.

🌱 “Protect Nature Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
