Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata organized a 5-Day Faculty Development Programme on *“Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering 2026”* from 23rd to 27th February 2026 in online mode.

The programme, conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering with support from IIC-HITK and IQAC-HITK, focused on emerging technologies, research advancements, and contemporary developments in mechanical engineering.

The FDP served as an important platform for academic interaction, knowledge sharing, and strengthening innovation-oriented teaching and research practices.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-HITK), in collaboration with EDIC, Alumni Relationship Club and IQAC-HITK, organized an Expert Talk on *Technology Readiness Level and Technology Transfer* on 19 January 2026.

The session by **Dr. Abir Ghosh** and **Dr. Debdip Bhandary** from IIT (BHU) Varanasi introduced students to the process of converting innovative research into practical and market-ready technologies.

The event encouraged innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented thinking among students, strengthening the culture of research and technology commercialization at HITK.

Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, through its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in association with the Department of Civil Engineering and IQAC, organized an Industrial Site Visit to the 24 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Rajarhat Action Area III on 11th and 12th February 2026.

The visit enabled students to understand the operational aspects of sewage treatment, wastewater management technologies, and sustainable environmental practices. Such initiatives promote experiential learning and help students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world engineering applications.

The Department of CSE (Data Science), Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, organized an expert seminar titled **“AI-Assisted Software Development: From Automation to Augmentation”** on 2nd February 2026.

The session was conducted by Mr. Jit Sinha, Enterprise Architect at IBM, who shared his extensive industry experience and discussed how Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing software development processes, improving productivity, and redefining developer roles.

The seminar provided students with valuable industry exposure and practical insights into modern AI-driven software engineering practices.

Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, through its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-HITK) in association with IQAC-HITK, organized the Innovation Showcase 2026, a two-day intra-institutional prototype demonstration competition on 23rd–24th February 2026.

The event showcased innovative student prototypes developed under national and institutional innovation programs such as YUKTI/APF, IBM & TCS Bootcamp, SIH-2026, and Hult Prize 2026.

Industry experts Ayan Mukherjee (TCS), Soma Jana (Capgemini), and Dr. Dipak Kr. Chanda (Matrexia Advanced Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) interacted with participants, evaluated innovations, and provided valuable mentorship.

The program encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial development among students, strengthening the institute’s innovation ecosystem.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-HITK), Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, in association with IQAC-HITK, observed **National Energy Conservation Day** with a technical lecture and demonstration session.

The event featured Prof. (Dr.) Jayati Datta, Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry, HITK, who delivered an insightful talk on sustainable energy technologies and emerging functional materials for future energy resources.

Participants also attended demonstrations at the Renewable Energy Laboratory, enhancing awareness about energy conservation and sustainable technological practices.

The program emphasized the importance of innovation, responsibility, and sustainability in addressing global energy challenges.

The student members of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-HITK), Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, recently visited IMI Kolkata to explore their incubation facilities and startup ecosystem.

The visit provided students with practical exposure to incubation processes, mentorship frameworks, and entrepreneurial support systems. Meaningful discussions were held to establish future collaboration opportunities for startup incubation and innovation development.

This initiative strengthens the relationship between IIC-HITK and IMI Kolkata, encouraging students to transform innovative ideas into successful ventures.

SMART ChemE 2025 – A Successful 3-Day Technical Workshop
Heritage Institute of Technology proudly hosted SMART ChemE 2025, organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering in association with IIC-HITK and IQAC-HITK from 8th–10th December 2025.

National Youth Day 2026 Celebration

IIC–HITK & IQAC–HITK, in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani, celebrated National Youth Day in honor of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.

The program emphasized youth empowerment, moral strength, leadership, and service to society. Inspired by the powerful words — “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached” — students were encouraged to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the nation.

A meaningful observance reflecting the spirit of dedication and self-belief.
