The School of Agriculture, organized an insightful seminar in collaboration with the Insurance Institute of India and Kolkata Insurance Institute.
The seminar on “Role of Insurance as an Ethical Agricultural Insurance Intermediary” emphasized the critical role of insurance in safeguarding farmers, promoting ethical practices, and ensuring sustainability in agriculture.
We were privileged to have Mr. Angshuman Roy and Dr. Milan Chakraborty as speakers, who shared valuable knowledge on agricultural risk management and the future of insurance in farming systems.
Such initiatives strengthen the connection between agriculture and financial security, paving the way for a more resilient farming community.

Educational Tour
An inspiring and knowledge-rich educational tour was organized for B.Sc. Agriculture students to the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden on 13th March, 2026
The visit offered firsthand exposure to an incredible diversity of plant species, including rare and exotic collections, along with the world-renowned Great Banyan Tree. Students actively engaged in understanding plant taxonomy, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable landscape management—transforming theoretical concepts into practical insights.
Such field-based learning experiences are essential in shaping skilled, environmentally conscious agricultural professionals and strengthening their scientific outlook.

Successfully conducted the Six Days Intensive Training on “Holistic Approaches to Protection Strategies against Major Crop Diseases” held from 16th–21st February, 2026.
The programme was organized by the School of Agriculture, Swami Vivekananda University, Barrackpore, West Bengal, in collaboration with PestiSeeds Agritech Pvt. Ltd..
The training brought together students, researchers, and professionals to enhance knowledge on integrated and sustainable disease management practices, strengthening skills for resilient crop production.
