West Bengal Shramshree Scheme – Key Points
1. Overview:
• Launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 18 August 2025.
• Rehabilitation scheme for Bengali migrant workers returning to West Bengal after harassment or discrimination in other states for speaking Bengali.
• Administered by the Labour Department.
2. Objective:
• Support returning migrant workers financially and socially.
• Provide financial assistance, skill training, and job opportunities.
• Encourage self-employment by providing loans and skill development.
3. Benefits:
• Financial Assistance: ₹5,000 per month for one year or until securing employment.
• Employment Opportunities: Job Cards for rural areas; jobs created post skill training.
• Self-Employment: Loans and training to start businesses.
• Skill Training: To improve employability and support entrepreneurship.
