3rd year classes get over. While tears roll down the cheeks of the girls in the Day and the Evening Department, it is chanting Words of Wisdom for the B. Com Morning boys. An end of a 3 year saga. Finally you can say that Xavier's has made you a better human and a better personality. As said in your orientation, You Can Take Me Out of Xaviers But you can never take Xaviers Out of Me.

Notice for Issue of University Degree Certificate
- B.Com & BBA

University Degree Certificate will be issued from 27.01.15 (Tue) to students who have successfully completed their course in the session 2013-14 from their respective departmental office as per the following timings :

Department Days Timings
B.Com (Morning) Monday to Friday 2pm – 4pm
B.Com (Evening) Monday to Friday 4pm – 6pm
BBA Monday to Friday 4pm – 6pm
Requirements: - A copy of the Consolidated Mark Sheet has to be produced to collect the University Degree Certificate

A Research Milestone For St. Xavier’s College
Kolkata: The “Central Research Facility” of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, was inaugurated by
the Rector, Fr. Dominic Savio, SJ and the Principal, Fr. Felix Raj on the 3rd April 2014. After
a short prayer service, Fr. Principal blessed the newest addition to this 153-year-old institution
and christened it ‘The Fr. Frans Goreaux Central Research Facility’ (GCRF), in an attribute to
the great Jesuit Mathematician, another legend associated with this college.
This 5000 sq.ft research facility was partially funded by a FIST grant awarded to the College to
enhance research facilities of the ‘aided’ Science departments. Fr. Principal however chose to
include the ‘self-financed’ science departments too, to turn this Centre into a true research
Centre for science where Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology will join and
share the different facilities.
The facilities include a ‘cold lab’ that will operate at an ambient temperature of 40C, a ’Plant
Tissue Culture laboratory’, an ‘Animal Tissue Culture Laboratory’, a ‘Biosciences
Laboratory’, a ‘Chemistry Wet Laboratory’, an ‘Instrumentation Laboratory ‘ and a ‘Physical
Sciences Laboratory’, apart from a separate ‘Scholars’ room’, a ‘Staff Study’, a ‘Server Room’
and a ‘Store’. Alongside the GCRF Lab, there is a ’smart classroom’, which will double up as
a ‘Conference Centre’.
“The Central Research Facility Laboratory is a welcome gift for researchers in minor and
major projects”, said Fr. Felix Raj. The College has spent more than Rs 1 crore on the facility
that offers researchers latest tools and technology. St. Xavier’s College, at present, has 15
research scholars and hopes to start PhD programme soon. “I will soon approach the University
of Calcutta to allow us to offer PhD course”, said Father Raj.
Today no educational institute can pride itself as ‘premier’ if it cannot boast of a vibrant and
productive research community. The GCRF with its state-of-art technology in probes, analysis
and instrumentation will provide a further boost to the research culture prevalent in the
College. Open from 9.00am to 8.00pm on all weekdays, it will be used for research by undergraduate
and post-graduate students, Ph.D scholars and faculty members.

St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was assessed by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with a CGPA of 3.53 on a four point scale at A Grade for a period of five years. Congratulations to all the stake-holders, staff, students, parents and alumni/ae.

A plethora of Events happening in college. After the grand success of Xavotsav 2015, Beyond Barriers 2015 and Xavullash 2015, the Xavier's Commerce Society has come up with its flagship event Insignia 2015. While all this happens, the Department of Management is working day in and day out to organise its flagship event Inertia Take 5. The event will be held on the 17th and 18th of March and will involve participation from International Universities as well. It will also witness guest lectures from Notable Speakers from India and abroad. A one of a kind Management Summit, Inertia Take 5 will definitely be very insightful. https://www.facebook.com/inertiatake5

The fifth chapter of the International Marketing Summit, Inertia Vol. 5 is to be held on the 17th and the 18th of March 2015.

Xavotsav Official dates announced. Be prepared for the biggest fest of Eastern India to be held at St. Xavier's College on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of January followed by Beyond Barriers on the 26th of January.
St. Xavier's awaits all of you at the college grounds on all the four days.

With a start of December, a lot of things have begun to happen in and around St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. Preparations for Christmas are already being done while Xaverians are out making preparations for Xavotsav 2015. The Alumni Association is busy with their preparations for Beyond Barriers and the College Teachers are busy checking the semester answer sheets so that results can be published on time.
This is what is Xaviers and this is what it will always remain. Be it December or May, things keep happening around and keeps connecting you to the small world of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
