Come,O comet, Come rushing in,
Build a bridge of fire across the darkness.
Awaken them with a sudden shock,
Those who lie half conscious.

Stable Equilibrium:
A body is said to be in stable equilibrium when, after a small displacement, it returns to its original position.
Reason: The centre of gravity rises when displaced, so a restoring force brings it back.
Example:
A ball at the bottom of a bowl
A cone resting on its base
Unstable Equilibrium:
A body is in unstable equilibrium when, after a small displacement, it moves farther away from its original position.
Reason: The centre of gravity falls when displaced, so the body continues to move away.
Example:
A ball placed on the top of a hill
A cone balanced on its tip
Neutral Equilibrium:
A body is in neutral equilibrium when, after displacement, it stays in the new position.
Reason: The centre of gravity remains at the same height.
Example:
A ball on a flat horizontal surface
A cylinder lying on its side
