Today is the birthday of Paul Olaf Bodding, who was a linguist and literary conservator who made a significant contribution to the preservation of Santali literature during the British rule in India. P. O. Bodding was the first to realize the limitations of the Roman script when writing Santali. The diacritical marks used to write the Santali language in Roman script in this way he compared it as "garbage". He said that in the future, only Santali speakers will be able to solve the problem of this Santali script correctly. Pandit Murmu solved this valuable statement of P. O. Bodding by inventing Santali's own script Olchiki in 1925. Today, we pay our respects to P. O. Bodding on his birthday.
