Career Counselling Session with Mindler: Exploring New-Age Careers

The Career Counselling Session on “New-Age Careers”, organised in collaboration with Mindler, was an enriching experience for the students of Grades 9 Rose and 10 Marigold on 6th August. The session was facilitated by Ms. Chaitali Sharma, who engaged the students in meaningful discussions about emerging career pathways and opportunities.

The students participated enthusiastically and interacted spontaneously, sharing their interests, aspirations, and areas of curiosity. The discussion helped them explore how different interests can be combined to create diverse and exciting career possibilities. The session encouraged students to look beyond conventional career choices and consider the wide range of opportunities emerging in today’s rapidly changing world.

Exploring the Story Behind the Quadratic Formula

Students of Grade 9 Rose took a step beyond the textbook during their Mathematics class as they explored the work of the renowned Indian mathematician Sridharacharya and his contribution to the development of the well-known quadratic formula.

The exploration began with a challenge: students encountered a quadratic equation that could not be solved easily by factorisation. This difficulty prompted them to look for an alternative method of solving quadratic equations. Through their research, they discovered the historical journey behind the quadratic formula and gained a deeper appreciation of how mathematical ideas evolve to solve problems.

The activity connected mathematical problem-solving with the history of mathematics, encouraging students to see the subject not merely as a collection of formulas, but as a field shaped by curiosity, challenges, and discoveries.

Measuring the Volume of a Brass Bob

The students of Grade 6T measured the volume of a brass bob using a measuring cylinder. The initial and final water levels were recorded, and the difference indicated the bob’s volume by the water displacement method. The activity was both educational and engaging, helping students understand an important scientific principle through hands-on learning.

*Dream City: Learning Parallel Lines Through Creativity! 🏙️📐*

Over the last three days, the students of *Grade 7 Lotus* transformed their understanding of *parallel lines* into a creative, hands-on project. Using their knowledge of geometry, they designed their own *Dream Cities*, where roads were represented by parallel lines and different landmarks were strategically placed according to given conditions.

From hospitals and parks to malls, schools, bookstores, and restaurants, every location had to be positioned in the correct order while maintaining the concept of parallel lines. The activity encouraged students to apply mathematical concepts in a real-world context while fostering creativity, teamwork, planning, and presentation skills.

Watching them confidently explain the logic behind their city layouts was a wonderful reminder that *mathematics is not just about numbers—it is about designing, reasoning, and creating.*

*Learning by doing, imagining, and presenting—Geometry came alive in 7 Lotus!* 🌟📏

Chemistry Becomes Colourful

Students of Grade VII at LSAI conducted an experiment titled “Change of Colour by Indicators in Acidic and Basic Medium.” The activity demonstrated how different indicators change colour in acidic and basic solutions. Students observed and recorded the results carefully, making chemistry more engaging and practical.
The laboratory session was informative, interactive, and successful in developing scientific observation skills.
