Friends as Dietetians share your experiences on Intermittent Fasting and let's do research to show a well planned diet with enough protein, fibre, micro nutrients is helping in weight loss, reduces inflammation and related conditions as Diabetes, PCOS etc. It is not the FAD diet but a well planned Intermittent fasting we need to make the difference clear. Agreed lot of people are doing it on their own which will not be good for health.

I, as Director, National Institute of Nutrition and also as President of Nutrition Society of India, underline that the TOI reporting narrative is unwarranted and may mislead the reader into believing that one does not need to seek advice of a health professional and follow the guideline of ICMR-NIN on his/her own. Dieticians and Nutritionists come under The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act 2021. The role of a Dietician/ Nutritionist in the prevention and treatment of diet related diseases cannot be undermined by such narratives presented by the members of the Press. I strongly object this statement.

Many people think that going on a diet means starving or depriving yourself of your favourite foods and you need to eat only boiled vegetables, soups and salads.
This is not true ! If you consult a qualified dietitian, she will take a thorough dietary recall, lifestyle assessment taking your medical history into consideration and then plan a personalized meal plan. She will also suggest variety in meals ensuring they are nutritious and have all the food group while being visually appealing and delicious.
Remember it's not "dieting" but embarking on a healthy lifestyle to gift yourself a healthy, happy body.
We hear of people being told to wake up and eat a chilli or have only watermelon or soups the entire day. We would love to hear from you on a crazy advise you have received.

As you can see, a lot of misinformation isn't completely false or fake, it's actually information or imagery that lacks context. Something that has a "kernel of truth" to it is much more believable.
