On the auspicious occasion of the completion of the 75th year of Indian Independence, Bengal Geology Community & Friends & Spriha Society organised a small awareness programme on "Personal Hygiene and Menstrual Hygiene" for the female kids within the age group of 8 to 14 years at Jadavpur Bijoygarh Shikhaniketan For Girls. The tarpaulins which we had left with Amara Sabai in the Kuemuri village in Patharpratima Block of Sundarban was distributed by them to the villagers whose houses have been shattered by the cyclone Yass.

We are proud to be associated with Dum Dum K. K. Hindu Academy Alumni Association for the relief distribution drive held at Debipur village in Kultali Block of Sundarban on the 27th of June.

গত ৬ই জুন, ২০২১ এবং তার পরেও আমাদের স্কুলের বহু প্রাক্তন ছাত্র থেকে শুরু করে পরিচিত, অপরিচিত প্রিয়জনেরা আমাদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছেন। সমর্থন জানিয়েছেন। সেই জন্য আমরা আবারও ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে যেতে পেরেছি Bengal Geology Community & Friends-র সঙ্গী হয়ে। সঙ্গে ছিল 'সুন্দরবন রক্ষা দল'।

গতকাল Bengal Geology Community & Friends, ওরফে 'বখাটের দল' পৌঁছে গেছিল পাথরপ্রতিমা ব্লকের কুয়েমুরি গ্রামে, ওখানকার একটি সংগঠন, 'আমরা সবাই'-এর ডাকে।

Amara Sabai-এর তরফ থেকে Bibhuti বাবু জানিয়েছিলেন যে খাদ্যসামগ্রী নিঃসন্দেহে প্রয়োজনীয়, তবু সেগুলোর খানিকটা জোগান পৌঁছচ্ছে, সরকারি এবং বেসরকারি দু'তরফ থেকেই। তাই তার চাইতেও বেশি প্রয়োজন কিছু নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্রের।
তাই ওঁদের কথা অনুযায়ী, ওঁদের দেওয়া লিস্টের মধ্যে থেকেই কিছু জিনিস জোগাড় করে, কুয়েমারি গ্রামের ইয়াস বিধ্বস্ত একশ' পরিবারের হাতে তুলে দিতে পারলাম:
স্যানিটারি প্যাড (যেটার খরচ গোটাটাই বহন করেছে Rituparna এবং Anneswa -দের বিপণি, Stree Kolkata)

টুথব্রাশ
গায়ে মাখার সাবান
শ্যাম্পু
গুঁড়ো সাবান
গুঁড়ো দুধ
জল ধরে রাখার জন্য জেরিক্যান

এছাড়াও এই মুহূর্তে ওঁদের প্রধান সমস্যা জলের। সমস্ত ভেড়ি এবং পুকুরে নোনা জল ঢুকে সেগুলোকে খাওয়ার অযোগ্য করে রেখেছে। যদিও বর্ষাকাল এসে পড়ায় জলাশয়গুলির লবণাক্ততা একটু কমেছে, তাও সেগুলোকে ব্যবহারযোগ্য করে তুলতে দ্রুততার সঙ্গে ছেঁচে ফেলা খুব জরুরি। কিন্তু এক একটি পুকুর ছাঁচার খরচ প্রায় হাজার পাঁচেক করে। এই সমস্যার খানিকটা হলেও সমাধান করতে, ওঁদের সঙ্গে কথা বলে আমরা, 'আমরা সবাই' সংস্থাটির হাতে একটি জল ছেঁচার পাম্প তুলে দিয়েছি। আশা করি গ্রামের মানুষেরা এতে সামগ্রিকভাবে উপকৃত হবেন।
বর্ষাকালে সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলে মশা এবং পোকামাকড়ের উপদ্রব প্রবলভাবে বেড়ে যায়‌। সেটার থেকে খানিকটা রেহাই দেওয়ার জন্য ওঁদের কাছে একশ' কেজি ব্লিচিং পাউডারও পৌঁছে দেওয়া হয়েছে।
আমরা গোটা পঞ্চাশেক ত্রিপল এবং কিছু জামাকাপড়ের জোগাড়ও করতে পেরেছিলাম। সেগুলোও বিভূতি বাবুদের কাছে দেওয়া আছে, কোভিড বিধি মেনে, প্রয়োজনমত বিলি করার জন্য।
আবার ধন্যবাদ জানাই আপনাদের সকলকে, যাঁরা আমাদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছেন এই বিধ্বস্ত এলাকার মানুষগুলিকে সাহায্য করার অঙ্গীকার নিয়ে।

"Medicine cure diseases, but only doctors can cure patients."

This Doctor's Day, we, Bengal Geology Community & Friends want to pay a tribute to the doctors who have worked selflessly and have had long tiring days and sleepless nights trying to heal the world since the beginning of this pandemic. Their tireless effort to provide a better tomorrow has allowed us to almost recover from the dangerous first and the disastrous second waves.

Amidst the second wave, when the daily cases were rising exponentially, when the doors of the hospitals were queued with ambulances, when the volunteers were having sleepless nights trying to search for beds for the patients, when the newspapers opened to the pictures of the burning pyres, when the helpless cries soared the skies, we had these demi gods who served mankind. We had these young doctors who were already tight on their own schedules, still agreed to provide free telemedicine and consultation to the patients who reached us. We can now proudly say that there had been numerous patients who had opted our telemedicine and consultation and these gentlemen have never failed to turn up.

This Doctor's Day, we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all the doctors who have been working selflessly day in and day out to help the world see a tomorrow.

No word of thanks is sufficient to express our indebtedness to the doctors who in spite of themselves being tied to their tough schedule, have managed to answer each and every telemedicine and consultation call Bengal Geology Community & Friends have received from the patients affected by COVID-19.

On this special day, we would like to announce that we have a fourth doctor added to our Telemedicine and Consultation Team. We believe that together we can fight this pandemic with these demi gods by our side.
