Fr. Jacob Chakkathra Spiritual Director of FIMCAP Asia

Kakkanad: Fr. Jacob Chakkathra, Secretary of the Syro-Malabar Youth Movement Commission and SMYM Global Director, has been elected as the Spiritual Director of the Asian wing of 'FIMCAP', a federation of various youth organizations worldwide under the Vatican’s ‘Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life’. The election took place during an online meeting of various youth movements in Asia. A priest of the Changanacherry Archdiocese, he has been working in youth ministry for ten consecutive years. This election is a recognition for the Syro-Malabar Church.

കാക്കനാട് : വത്തിക്കാൻ ‘ഡിക്കാസ്ട്രി ഫോർ ഫാമിലി ആൻഡ് ലൈഫ്’ ന് കീഴിൽ ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള വിവിധ യുവജന സംഘടനകളുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മയായ ‘ഫിംക്യാപ്പ്’ എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെ ഏഷ്യ ഘടകത്തിന്റെ സ്പിരിച്ച്വൽ ഡയറക്ടറായി സീറോമലബാർ യൂത്ത് മൂവ്മെൻറ് കമ്മീഷൻ സെക്രട്ടറിയും എസ് എം വൈ എം ഗ്ലോബൽ ഡയറക്ടറും ആയ ഫാദർ ജേക്കബ് ചക്കാത്ര തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഏഷ്യയിലുള്ള വിവിധ യുവജന കൂട്ടായ്മകളുടെ ഓൺലൈൻ മീറ്റിങ്ങിലാണ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്നത്. തുടർച്ചയായി പത്തുവർഷം യൂത്ത് മിനിസ്ട്രിയിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹം ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി അതിരൂപത വൈദികനാണ്. ഈ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് സീറോമലബാർ സഭയ്ക്ക് ലഭിച്ച ഒരു അംഗീകാരമാണ്.
യു.എൻ ഉം ആയി അഫിലിയേഷൻ ഉള്ള ഫിം ക്യാപ് എന്ന സംഘടനയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞവർഷം ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ ജോർജിയിൽ വെച്ച് നടന്ന ജനറൽ അസംബ്ലിയിൽ എസ് എം വൈ എം പുതിയ മെമ്പർ ആയി അംഗത്വം നേടിയിരുന്നു.

The Syro-Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM) organized a meeting for Eparchial Directors and Presidents on January 21, 2026, at the Major Archiepiscopal Curia, Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad.

Inaugurating the meeting, His Beatitude Mar Raphael Thattil, the Major Archbishop, urged the youth to be the "living pulse" of the Church in the face of modern challenges. The Major Archbishop emphasized that the strength of the SMYM lies in its unique ability to bridge traditional faith with contemporary youth culture.

The meeting was presided over by Adv. Sam Sunny ,the president SMYM, while Mar Peter Kochupurackal, Chairman of the Commission for Youth, delivered the keynote address.

The Syro-Malabar Church officially launched the Community Empowerment Year in a grand ceremony held ahead of the Church Synod. Graced by eminent bishops and priests, the event also witnessed the proud presence of SMYM Global President Adv. Sam Sunny, who was invited to join the dignitaries on stage for the inauguration.
