In a world of uncertainties, what do you seek certainty in?
24.02.2026
We gathered at the Kochi Biennale not just to talk about Learning Cities, but to sit together in the weight of that question.
We live in the metacrisis. A world of interconnected collapse; ecological, social, personal. A world that sells us cheap copies of connection and calls it wellbeing.
In the middle of all this noise, we asked: Can community be a response?
At Learning City Thrissur, we believe it can. Our daylong session was an experiment in sensemaking. We didn't offer quick fixes. Instead, we explored what it means to build cities that connect humans to each other and to the rest of nature. Spaces where citizens don't wait for solutions, but (re)claim their autonomy, together.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their uncertainty, and dared to imagine their city as a living organism, one that learns and responds.
The journey of building relational fields continues...

We are excited to be at the Kochi Biennale on February 24th, Tuesday.
Building Learning Cities: Reimaging our being through locality and community
Facilitated by Team - Learning City Thrissur
Can cities become spaces that truly connect people with each other and with the rest of nature — to reclaim autonomy and wellbeing?
This session explores these questions through the journey of co-creating Learning City Thrissur. Together, we’ll reflect on what it means for citizens to organise with intention, build networks of care and participation, and take collective responsibility for their city.
Drawing from the process behind the Youth Manifesto for Thrissur, the session opens up possibilities for imagining community-led change rooted in belonging, dialogue, and shared vision. How might we begin something similar where we are?
📅 Date: 24th February 2026

The mayor and deputy mayor of Thrissur Municipal Corporation called for a public consultation today, inviting ideas and proposals to be incorporated in the next municipal budget.
We at Learning City Thrissur had the opportunity to present some of the ideas mentioned in the Youth Manifesto for Thrissur, a people’s manifesto we created at Learning City Thrissur by consulting and interacting with the city’s youth.
We also handed over the copies of the manifesto which articulates our collective thoughts, visions and dreams for the city to the administrative council.
What gives us a lot more hope and confidence is the several overlaps in the suggestions given by others from the public. Some of the most common ones being:
• Preserving the Thrissur Zoo in Chembukavu as a botanical garden under the commons
• Reducing pollution of waterways under waste management
• Prioritising pedestrian-friendly roads in urban infrastructure planning.
• More literary festivals aligned with our learning and knowledge agenda.
Additionally, proposals for maintenance of biodiversity registers and flood assessment and management studies closely reflected our suggestions under ecology and environment.
We appreciate this initiative of the council to hear out its citizens, and look forward to more interactions with the council on this in the coming days.

When we went on a bird walk around Puthur lake, initiated by our LCT member Lexy. We had fun spotting and identifying several bird species, both local and migratory. Truly amazed by the diversity that is around us, but only if we pause and observe.

Join us for an endearing presentation and dialogue on the need to protect the 10.42 acre green habitat in Thrissur Zoo & Museum.
As the zoo shifts to Puthur from Chembukkavu, there is a direct need to protect and conserve the current zoo grounds for the wellbeing of the city and its people.
And this is very much a proposal we have put forward in the Youth Manifesto for Thrissur we published recently.
In the light of the upcoming local body elections, we invite you for a conversation with the candidates of Chembukkavu municipal division on the conservation of this green hub.
🕟: 4:30-6:30 p.m., December 7, Sunday
