Imagine the universe has a giant wall at its edge. Not a metaphorical one—a real, physical barrier. Now picture yourself standing in front of it with a drill, ready to punch through. But here’s the twist: beyond that wall isn’t empty space or darkness—it’s nothing. No atoms, no time, no dimensions. Not even a vacuum. Just... the absence of everything.

So what happens when you drill into it?

You’d be trying to make a hole in a place that doesn’t exist. And the moment your drill breaks through, you’re not just poking into nothing—you’re creating space where there was none. That’s the paradox: drilling requires space, but space doesn’t exist beyond the wall. It’s like trying to carve a doorway into a dream that hasn’t been dreamed yet.

In short, if that wall really separates us from true nothingness, then breaching it isn’t just impossible—it’s meaningless. Because there’s nowhere for the hole to go.

The thermosphere is an extremely hot layer of Earth's atmosphere, with temperatures reaching over 2,000°C (3,600°F) due to intense solar radiation. However, despite these scorching temperatures, the air density is incredibly low, meaning there aren't enough particles to effectively transfer heat to objects.

Iron melts at around 1,538°C (2,800°F), so in theory, the thermosphere's temperature could be high enough to melt iron. But in reality, if you placed an iron object in the thermosphere, it wouldn't heat up significantly because there aren't enough molecules to conduct the heat effectively. This is why satellites and spacecraft can orbit at this altitude without melting.

It's a fascinating quirk of atmospheric science—high temperature, but little actual heating power!
