As part of experiential learning, our Class XII Psychology students visited a special needs school/Rehabilitation centre to gain practical exposure to children with diverse developmental and learning needs.

During the visit, students interacted with children diagnosed with Disabilities, Spectrum Disorder, Impairment, and Learning Disabilities. They engaged them in drawing, colouring, simple games, and group activities focused on participation, communication, and social interaction. Students also practiced basic communication techniques with hearing-impaired children, which deepened their understanding of alternative modes of expression.

The experience nurtured empathy, patience, and emotional sensitivity. It helped students observe individual differences in behavior, learning pace, and responses, thereby strengthening their understanding of human development, disorders, and inclusive education. The visit also highlighted the value of a supportive environment, structured teaching, and positive reinforcement in the growth of such children.

Overall, the visit was enriching and impactful. It bridged the gap between theory and real-life application, and inspired a more compassionate and inclusive outlook among our students.Ms Indu Bhardwaj, PGT Psychology briefed the students & staff.
