Innovation that makes mobility more accessible and practical.

The Department of Physiotherapy, School of Allied and Healthcare, KU, has achieved a significant milestone with the publication of the utility “SMART MULTIFUNCTIONAL CONVERTIBLE CRUTCH WITH DEPLOYABLE SEAT.”

The innovation combines mobility support with a deployable seat, storage compartment, health monitoring module, emergency communication system and rechargeable power source, offering greater convenience and functionality for individuals with mobility impairments. A meaningful step forward in assistive healthcare technology and a proud achievement for KU’s culture of research and innovation.

One week. Countless moments. One celebration of the spirit of physiotherapy!

The School of Physiotherapy brought Physiotherapy Week 2026 to life with eight days filled with learning, community care, creativity, competition and celebration.

From taking physiotherapy beyond the campus through a Free Health Camp and Plantation Drive, to putting knowledge and creativity into action through quizzes, extempore speech, poster and paper presentations, face painting, rangoli and a treasure hunt, every day brought something new.

The week also featured a hands-on Taping Workshop with 100 participants, followed by a vibrant World Physiotherapy Day celebration with a departmental Wall Magazine, student performances and felicitation. A week where knowledge met action, skills met creativity, and every activity reflected the energy of our students. Here’s a look back at Physiotherapy Week 2026 at KU!

From molecular interactions to deeper insights into cluster dynamics!

Dr. Himashree Mahanta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, KU, has co-authored a research article published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry A by the American Chemical Society.

The study explores the collision-induced formation and dissociation of benzene–hexafluorobenzene–benzene trimers, offering molecular-level insights into cluster growth, fragmentation and noncovalent interactions, with relevance to combustion chemistry and soot formation.

The research, carried out in collaboration with Bose Institute, Kolkata and NIT Meghalaya, marks another valuable contribution to KU’s growing research portfolio. Congratulations to Dr. Himashree Mahanta and the entire research team!

Four days of knowledge, research and hands-on learning in the world of biopharmaceuticals and translational biotechnology.

From 1–4 September 2026, KU’s School of Pharmacy and Department of Biotechnology, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, in association with IQAC, IPR Cell and IIC, organised the National Conference-cum-Workshop on Advances in Biopharmaceuticals and Translational Biotechnology, sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT-CTEP), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

With 201 participants, the programme brought together experts, researchers, faculty and students to explore emerging areas including biopharmaceuticals, biosimilars, cancer immunotherapy, biologics regulation, biodiversity and IPR, computational drug discovery, molecular modelling, machine learning and Explainable AI.

The hands-on workshop further provided practical exposure to DNA isolation, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, protein extraction, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, molecular docking and bioinformatics tools.

A meaningful platform for research communication, interdisciplinary collaboration and learning that connects scientific discovery with translational impact.

KU’s School of Engineering and Technology hosted an insightful expert talk by Dr. Prasenjit Khanikar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati, on “3D Printed Metamaterials, Mind Map, Growth Mindset and Higher Studies.”

The session introduced students to emerging areas including 3D-printed metamaterials, additive manufacturing, advanced composites and their applications, along with practical demonstrations of 3D models developed at IIT Guwahati. Dr. Khanikar also shared valuable perspectives on mind mapping, developing a growth mindset, and exploring higher studies and research opportunities.

The engaging interaction gave students an opportunity to connect classroom learning with contemporary engineering research while encouraging them to think beyond conventional boundaries. The programme concluded on a celebratory note with a surprise prize distribution ceremony honouring the winners of the previous day’s event!

From building bridges with popsicle sticks and taking on the futsal field to engaging sessions with distinguished engineers and dignitaries, students celebrated engineering in every form.
