In-House Training Workshop on ‘Effective Classroom Management’ Organized at the School
A one-day in-house training workshop on ‘Effective Classroom Management’ was organized for teachers at DAV Police Public School, Police Lines, Jind. Teachers from DAV Police Public School, Bhiwani, also participated in the training workshop. The objective of the workshop was to familiarize teachers with practical strategies for creating an organized, positive, empowering, and effective learning environment in the classroom.
During the training, Resource Person Seema explained that the objective of effective classroom management is not merely to control students, but to create an environment where students can maintain discipline and learn peacefully and effectively. In continuation of the session, Resource Person Priyanka discussed the physical, behavioural, and instructional aspects of classroom management in detail. Positive behaviour, effective communication, time management, and active student participation were highlighted as the foundations of an effective classroom.
Resource Person Mamta introduced the ‘5C Solution Formula’, which was a special attraction of the workshop. The strategies for making classroom management effective through Clarity, Connection, Content, Consequences, and Consistency were explained. Teachers were guided to establish classroom rules and expectations clearly in collaboration with students and to implement them consistently. Special emphasis was also placed on building positive relationships with students, keeping them actively engaged in learning, and responding to their behaviour in a fair and predictable manner.
To make the workshop interesting and participatory, various activities were conducted. Teachers practised strategies such as developing classroom rules and ‘Class Treaties’, establishing effective communication with students, and refocusing the attention of the class within a short period of time. Through case studies and role plays based on different classroom situations, teachers discussed possible solutions to various challenges.
During the training, challenges related to different learning paces among students, classroom disruptions, lack of attention, talking in class, and teacher preparedness were also discussed. Teachers were encouraged to adopt a proactive approach and design teaching activities that would keep students actively engaged.
At the conclusion of the workshop, teachers from both schools described the session as highly useful, practical, and enriching. The training conveyed the message that an organized environment, positive relationships, effective teaching, and consistency together create a classroom where every student is motivated to learn.
