The Indian Constitution guarantees equality to all its citizens, irrespective of their caste, religion, gender, or any other factor. However, in reality, the implementation of this principle has not been entirely successful, and many preferential categories for certain groups of people exist. This has resulted in discrimination and inequality, which is a significant challenge for the country.
Can we become a first-world nation by 2047, our 100th birthday, if all Indians are not equal children of God?
What should we do?
Implement policies and programs that promote equality and level the playing field for all citizens?
Do affirmative action programs that give disadvantaged groups better access to education, employment, and other opportunities?
Address the root causes of inequality and discrimination in society?
Educate people about the importance of equality and create awareness about the harmful effects of discrimination?
Work towards eliminating deep-seated biases and prejudices that exist within our society?
Ensure that the laws and policies that are designed to promote equality are effectively implemented and enforced?
How do we get commitment from all stakeholders, including the government, civil society, and citizens, to work together toward creating a more equal and just society?
