National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government College of Education (GCOE), Canal Road, Jammu on February 28, 2026.

The Department of Science organized a symposium on the theme β€œWomen in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat”, highlighting the vital role of women in scientific progress and nation-building. Students presented insightful talks on renowned scientists, showcasing their contributions to fields like space science, physics, and medical research.

The event was graced by Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar, who inspired students to develop scientific temper and pursue innovation. Around 50 students and faculty members participated, making the event intellectually enriching and inspiring.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the event as a grand success.

Government College of Education, Jammu organized a **One-Day Workshop on β€œYoga and Meditation for Examination Stress Reduction”** to help students effectively manage examination stress and improve concentration and emotional well-being.

The workshop was organized by the **Student Wellness Committee, Psychological Counselling Cell, and Research & Development Cell** under the guidance of **Principal Prof. Jyoti Parihar**, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to adopt yoga and meditation for maintaining mental balance during the examination period.

The resource person **Dr. Ambica Kumari, Head, Department of Psychology**, conducted an insightful session on the psychological aspects of examination stress and demonstrated **relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and meditation practices** to help students reduce anxiety and improve focus.

**Dr. Sushma Bala**, Convenor Research & Development Cell, highlighted the importance of healthy study habits and emotional resilience, while **Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Head, Department of Music**, shared valuable insights on how **music can play a significant role in reducing stress and creating a positive learning environment**.

The workshop included **practical demonstrations of yoga postures, pranayama, and guided meditation**, with enthusiastic participation from students.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion where students shared their experiences and gained valuable strategies for managing stress during examinations.

Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with the School of Teacher Education, Cluster University of Jammu successfully organized a **One-Day National Workshop on β€œPanchpadi Approach in the Light of NEP 2020 and NCF 2023: Towards Holistic and Experiential Learning.”**

The workshop aimed to provide practical exposure to **teacher educators, school teachers, and student-teachers** on implementing the Panchpadi pedagogical approach aligned with the vision of **NEP 2020 and NCF 2023**.

The Sports Committee, Govt. College of Education, Jammu, successfully organized the Inter College Men & Women Table Tennis Competition under the aegis of Cluster University of Jammu.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all five constituent colleges β€” GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce, Govt. MAM College, PSPS Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, and Govt. College of Education, Jammu. The competition showcased the exceptional talent, agility, and sportsmanship of the students, making it a memorable sporting event on campus.

The event began with a warm welcome address by the Principal, followed by exciting matches in both men’s and women’s categories.
