Researchers at the University of Oxford, together with UCL and Colorado State University, have developed a way to produce fluorochemicals without using hazardous hydrogen fluoride (HF) gas. Instead, they’ve created a novel process that directly uses CaF₂ (fluorspar) with a biomineralization-inspired technique. The result? Over 50 different fluorochemicals synthesised safely, with yield rates up to 98 %.

Using bioprinting techniques, researchers can grow customizable plant-based material that mimics natural wood. They can even adjust its stiffness and density, creating tailor-made wood products for construction, furniture, and more, without the waste of traditional lumber processing.

Applications are invited from highly motivated and bright candidates for engagement of Project Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the research project funded by ‘DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY’, Government of India at Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali.

Title of the Research Project : "Enzyme-powered fluidics: Transforming the landscape of molecular transport, on-chip bioassays and self-cleaning antimicrobial surfaces"

Principal Investigator : Dr. Debabrata Patra (Scientist F)

👉Qualifications :
Essential : I. Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following :
(a) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE.
(b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
II. 2 years research experience is mandatory.

🧑‍🔬Age limit : Must not be over 30 years as on 20.06.2025, which is relaxable for certain reserved categories as per rules of Government of India.
💵Fellowship : Rs. 42,000/- p.m + HRA @ 18%

🖥️Mode of Interview : Online
🧾Duration : Initially one year and may be extended based on performance of the candidate and availability of funds.

👉General Terms and Conditions :
• The position is purely temporary and on contractual basis and renewable each year subject to satisfactory performance for a maximum of three years/till the completion of the project whichever is earlier. The position is co-terminus with the project. Candidate selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program of INST provided they satisfy eligibility criteria.
