“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.”
With this spirit, commenced the third and final day of the Boond Festival Week 2014. With an unmatched vigor, Boond was committed to make this day the best among the three days. The 24th of December, 2014 was programed to be celebrated as CHRISTMAS DAY with the kids from the Chattar school, Vihaan school and the Ram Mandir school!!!! The schools started arriving at 10.30 A.M., the children visibly mesmerized by the beautiful decorations around them- the Christmas tree, the stars, balloons, decorative fillers, charts, et al. The volunteers and members were asked to come dressed in Red and White, which accentuated the festive mood all around. The kids themselves personally came and started conversing with the members, as the previous 2 days of fun had made them familiar with each other.
The children started walking across the field, admiring the decorations and getting thrilled amongst themselves. They were served Aloo tikiya chutney and Soup as their snack meal, which they savored. In accordance with the previous days, they were made to display their specialties in front of the audience, which everyone appreciated. Then was the time for the Dance!! With lively music being played in the background, the children and the members alike danced heartily and thoroughly enjoyed, as well as drained, themselves. Simultaneously with the Stall games (Feed the Monster, Hit the Glass) and the Bouncy, a very exciting game, “Bombing the City” was organized- in this game, 4 cities were demarcated at the four different corners and the kids were asked to run from one end to another till the music played. As the music stopped, the kids had to choose any one corner, and the corner whose name was called-out was declared out. What an amazement it was to see such a large number of children running helter-skelter on the Sewa Sadanground, cheering and enjoying thoroughly. After these exciting games, a mouth-watering lunch was awaiting the students, in the form of Daal-Bati, Churma, Mirchi, sweets. The children ate immensely and needless to say, relished the food very much. After the delicious lunch, Boond had another surprise in store for the children- the attraction of the day!!! The kids were assembled school-wise and made to sit on front of the stage. There was a cake cutting ceremony, which was distributed among the kids. And within a few minutes, BEHOLD!!, appeared someone very familiar and popular, especially among children. Ho Ho Ho, it was none other than the Santa Clause!!!! Jingle Bells started playing in the background with Santa’s entry, and the kids literally went mad!!! Shouting, hooting, cheering, applauses surrounded theenvironment. Santa distributed toffees among the kids and more than the toffees, the kids were excited about shaking hands with Santa. They were in complete awe of the event. Consequently, the certificates for the Sports Day event were distributed and the kids, in a very sporting manner, cheered each other and clapped for one another.
As the schools started leaving the Sewa Sadan premises in their buses, there was a mixed feeling of happiness and a bit of sadness. Happiness because the Boond Festival Week had truly met its aim- instilling joy in the lives of the children, and sadness because from the next day onwards, we would be back to our routine lives- the Boond Week was over! But, with a hope of organizing more such and better events in the near future, we bid adieu to the Boond Festival Week-2014!!!!
