Bhagwan Ram was the son of Dashrath, king of Ayodhya. His mother’s name was Kausalya. Ram is also known as “Maryaada Purshottam.” Ram was the seventh incarnation of Shri Vishnu who killed Ravana and restored dharma on the earth. He was an ideal king of all time. Rama was very handsome and his skin had a bluish shade. Ramarajya is the phrase used in Bharat for best governance. He used to treat his subjects as his children.
Prabhu Rama’s name was given by Vashishtha Maharshi, the guru of the Raghu dynasty. His name had a significant meaning, as it’s composed of two “Beeja Aksharas” – the Agni Beeja (Ra) and the Amrutha Beeja (Ma). While the Agni Beeja served to vitalize his soul and body, the Amrutha Beeja rejuvenated him from all the fatigue.
Ram Rajya according to many scholars meant that the state (Rajya) was the sole legitimate agency wielding power (force), which imposes limits upon its exercise of power, either for the greater happiness of the people or to evade a greater tyranny that could be caused by moral outrage or self-righteousness.
Ram Rajya, where peace, prosperity, and tranquility reigned, for there was no one to challenge the seat of Ayodhya, literally the land without wars. Incidentally in Hindi, “Ayodhya” means “a place where there is no war.” Hence “Ram Rajya” is described as an ideal society.
It is believed that there were not dacoits during his regime. All led a virtuous life. Nobody spoke any untruth.
