✅M.Tech. Program in Defence Technology Launched

✅All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) today launched a regular M.Tech. Program in Defence Technology in collaboration with Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) to impart necessary theoretical & experimental knowledge, skill and aptitude in various defence technology areas. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary DDR&D & Chairman DRDO and Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE launched the M.Tech. program in a virtual event organized by AICTE New Delhi. The program will motivate the aspiring engineers to start their career in defence technology.

✅This M.Tech. defence technology program can be conducted at any AICTE affiliated Institutes/Universities, IITs, NITs or private engineering institutes.

✅The Institute of Defence Scientists & Technologists (IDST) will provide support to the institutes for conducting this program, which can be conducted in online as well as offline formats. The program has six specialized streams - Combat Technology, Aero Technology, Naval Technology, Communication Systems & Sensors, Directed Energy Technology and High Energy Materials Technology. The students will also be provided opportunities to conduct their main thesis work in DRDO laboratories, Defence PSUs & Industries. The program will be helpful to the students seeking opportunities in ever expanding defence research and manufacturing sector.
Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, AICTE & Industries for starting a Post Graduate Program in Defence Technology and conveyed that this will help in achieving the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan of Hon’ble Prime Minister.

✅Dr. G Satheesh Reddy in his address congratulated DRDO, AICTE and industries for evolving the PG program. He expressed hope that such a specialized program will enable the creation of a large pool of talented workforce for defence sector. He called upon the industry leaders to extend their support for this program and offer opportunities to the students.

✅Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe expressed his happiness over the launch of the program and mentioned that it will not only generate skilled manpower pool in defence technology, but will also create spin-off benefits in terms of new defence startups and entrepreneurs. He emphasized that research should be connected with day-to-day life as it is fundamental for human psyche.

✅Shri Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited, congratulated DRDO and AICTE for initiating this program and highlighted its importance for creation of the much needed talent pool for defence technology with know-how and know-why capability to fulfil the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Counsellor Job Responsibilities:

Counsellor Job Duties:

• Compile & studies occupational, educational and additionally economic information to aid counselled in making as well as carrying out educational objectives
• May engage in research follow-up activities to evaluate counselling techniques
• Develops a profile of students attracted to the university/colleges /institution by conducting research; interviewing applicants; designing questionnaires for current students; analyzing questionnaire results; conducting focus groups.
• Evaluates recruitment techniques by determining the effectiveness of each recruitment technique used by admissions, discerning the appeal of admissions literature, defining the expectations of the university/colleges /institution to be instilled in incoming students by the admissions staff.
• Recruits students by visiting high schools, university/colleges /institution; attending college nights; visiting community colleges and technological institutions.
• Welcomes prospective students by processing paperwork, interviewing applicants, arranging and conducting campus tours, conducting follow-up activities such as letter writing and phone-calling campaigns.
• Maintains recruiting operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
• Completes projects by identifying and implementing new technology and resources; redesigning systems.
• Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.
• Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
• Enhances admissions department and university/colleges /institution reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Develops business associates, agents, consultant, agencies, franchise, partners.
• Work from home due to pandemic restriction /lock-down as and when required as per government guidelines and policies.
• Pandemic appropriate behaviour as per government guidelines and policies.
• May be designated according to the area of activity as Academic/Admission Counselor education; Career Placement Services Counselor education . ; Guidance Counselor education; Vocational Adviser education.
