Andhra Vidyalaya Education Society is one of the oldest and pioneer educational society in the erstwhile Nizam's state of Hyderabad.
The society was started in 1944 (Reg.No.7/52) with an objective to extend educational opportunities to backward sections of the region, who were deprived of basic education during the despotic rule of Nizam. In the backdrop of socio-politi cal landscape in which the society was started explains volumes about the vision and commitment of the founding fathers of the organisation by patriotic freedom
fighters like Raja Bahadur Sri Venkat Rama Reddy, Sri Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy, Sri Madapati Hanmantha Rao, Sri Suravaram Pratapa Reddy, Sri N.K.Rao and others. Their dream of starting an educational institution to impart education through medium of mother tongue became a reality with the establishment of Andhra Vidyalaya High School, the first Telugu medium school in the erstwhile Nizam Dominions. Starting of this institution, though a small step proved to be a great contribution in enlightening the people and liberation of the region. Many products of this great institution excelled themselves in different fields of activity. The A.V.Education Society during the past six decades of its existence evolved into a multi-dimensional organization with several educational institutions functioning under its umbrell a. Presently it manages two high schools, Degree and PG College besides a Law College. A.V.Education Society started A.V.College of Arts, Science & Commerce in the year 1968 for meeting the growing needs of higher education in the region. The college owes its existence to the initiative and untiring efforts of its founding fathers Sri K.V.Ranga Reddy and Sri J.V.Narsing Rao both former deputy chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh. At its genesis the college was conceived on a small scale to offer limited traditional courses in Intermediate and Degree. Under the dynamic leadership of Justice K.Madhava Reddy, a legendary figure, a legal luminary and an institution builder, the college has grown from strength to strength and emerged as a premier institution of higher learning in the state with diversified undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research and consultancy activities. The college being centrally located with spacious campus, beautiful landscape, el aborate infrastructure, benevolent management, dedicated staff and students is a well-known centre for various curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The eminence of this college and its vibrant activities are basically due to the contribution of many eminent personalities from different walks of life. Distinguished academics, judges, civil servants, doctors, industrialists and philanthropists are closely associated with the growth and development of the institution. In short, the college is the product of vision of the founding fathers and dedicated services of late Justice Sri K.Madhava Reddy and his associates, successive principals and members of the faculty who carved a niche for the institution.
