Theme: One Health: Together for a Safer Future

Emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and climate-related health threats are no longer isolated challenges—they are interconnected realities that span human, animal, and environmental health.

On World One Health Day, IFCAI reaffirms its commitment to advancing the One Health approach — a unified, multisectoral strategy for prevention, preparedness, and resilience.

As a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Civil Society Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance, IFCAI continues to advocate for integrated policies, capacity building, and collaborative action to combat AMR and emerging health threats.

Through our weekly digital newsletter, One Health Update (www.onehealthupdate.com), we connect professionals, researchers, and policymakers across disciplines — sharing the latest global and regional insights in One Health and infection control.

At IFCAI, we believe that effective infection prevention begins where ecosystems meet — in hospitals, farms, and communities alike.
Let’s act together to safeguard the health of people, animals, and our planet.

Thank you, University of Hyderabad, for recognising this milestone and for being such a vital partner in our journey towards combating antimicrobial resistance.
This acceptance into the World Health Organisation Civil Society Task Force on hashtag represents more than institutional recognition—it's a testament to the power of academic-practice collaboration in addressing critical global health challenges. Our partnership with University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been transformative in translating evidence into action, particularly in building robust capacity among healthcare professionals across India.
As we step onto this global platform alongside 80 other civil society organisations, we carry with us the insights, innovations, and ground realities from our work in India. The educational programs, research initiatives, and One Health approaches we've developed together have equipped us to contribute meaningfully to global AMR policy discussions while remaining deeply rooted in local contexts.
The fight against hashtag requires collective action across borders, disciplines, and sectors. We're honoured to represent India's perspective at this critical table. IFCAI - INFECTION CONTROL ACADEMY OF INDIA

Proud Moment for IFCAI - INFECTION CONTROL ACADEMY OF INDIA !
We are honoured to announce that IFCAI has been officially accepted as a member of the World Health Organization Civil Society Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)!
This is a significant milestone in our journey to combat one of the world's most pressing public health challenges. Antimicrobial resistance threatens to undermine decades of medical progress, and collective action has never been more critical.
What is the WHO Civil Society Task Force on AMR?
This Task Force brings together 81 civil society organisations from around the globe to strengthen WHO's engagement with NGOs and civil society groups. Together, we work to:
✅ Raise awareness and advocate for WHO's public health messages on AMR
✅ Promote effective use of WHO tools and resources
✅ Advocate for increased investment in AMR prevention and research
✅ Amplify the voices of vulnerable populations affected by AMR
✅ Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders

Looking Ahead
The Task Force has established a 12-member Steering Committee, with its inaugural in-person meeting scheduled for November 17-18, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A hybrid plenary session will also be held to ensure broader participation.
As members of this global coalition, we are committed to contributing meaningfully to the fight against and ensuring equitable access to prevention, treatment, and care for all, especially vulnerable populations.
We thank the World Health Organization for this opportunity and look forward to collaborating with fellow member organizations to drive meaningful change at local, national, and global levels.
Together, we can make a difference!
