আমাদের হাওড়া জেলার উত্তরাংশে উদয়নারায়নপুরে রয়েছে এক ঐতিহাসিক ক্ষেত্র, স্থান: গড় ভবানীপুর, নাম: রায়বাঘিনী রাণী ভবশঙ্করীর স্মৃতি পর্যটন কেন্দ্র

বিভিন্ন গুণী মানুষের লেখায় হয়তো স্থানটির ব্যাপক গবেষণা সমৃদ্ধ বিষয় রয়েছে। সেগুলোকে মাথায় রেখেই এক্ষেত্রে শুধু নিজস্ব অভিজ্ঞতাটুকুই অতি সাধারণভাবে লেখা হলো এবং অনিচ্ছাকৃত ভুলত্রুটি আশা করবো মার্জনীয়।
স্থানীয় মানুষ ও পর্যটন পিপাসু ছাড়া অধিকাংশের কাছেই হাওড়া জেলার গড় ভবানীপুরের এই ঐতিহাসিক স্থান প্রায় অপরিচিত।
এটি একটি সাম্প্রতিক পূর্ববর্তী কালের দেউল জাতীয় এক স্থাপত্যের ভগ্ন অবশেষ হিসেবে রয়েছে হাওড়া জেলার উদয়নারায়নপুরের দামোদর নদের প্লাবনভূমি বিধৌত এলাকায় রাণী ভবশঙ্করীর স্মৃতি হয়ে।
গত সপ্তাহে ভূগোল বিষয়ক একটি ওয়ার্কশপে অনুষ্ঠানে যোগদান করতে উদয়নারায়ণপুরে যাওয়ার পথেই লক্ষ্য করেছিলাম স্থাপত্য স্থানটি, কিন্তু তখন ব্যস্ত থাকায় ঠিক করেছিলাম ফেরার পথে সুযোগ হলে একবার স্থানটি অভিজ্ঞতা করব। অনুষ্ঠান শেষ করে যখন বাড়ি ফেরার পথ‌ করেছিলাম তখনই ফিরতি রাস্তায় সূর্য যখন প্রায় অস্তাচলে, কিছুক্ষণের জন্য হলেও ঘুরে এলাম এই ঐতিহাসিক স্থাপত্য মণ্ডিত স্হানটি।একটি বিষয় অভিজ্ঞতা করলাম, দেউলটির মধ্যে কিছুটা মাথা ঢুকিয়ে দেখতে পাই মন্দিরের
গর্ভগৃহ সদৃশ দক্ষিণমুখী একটি অংশ দেওয়ালের ভেতরে জানালা সদৃশ কয়েকটি বদ্ধ প্রকোষ্ঠ এবং উপরের অংশে মুঘল আমলের গম্বুজের ভেতরের অংশ সদৃশ অর্ধ গোলক আকৃতি অংশ যেটি বিভিন্ন প্রাকৃতিক কারণ (হতে পারে ভূমিকম্পের কারণে) বর্তমানে দুইদিকে গভীর ফাটল ধরে প্রায় ধ্বংসের মুখে এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে। প্রাচীন ঐতিহাসিক নিদর্শন হিসেবে এটিকে আরেকটু বিজ্ঞানসম্মতভাবে সংরক্ষণের প্রয়োজন আছে বলে মনে হয়।
খুব অল্প সময়ের মধ্যে হলেও প্রাচীন হাওড়ার ঐতিহাসিক নিদর্শন স্থানের সাক্ষী থেকে নিজেকে ঐতিহাসিকভাবে আরেকটু সমৃদ্ধ করার সুযোগ পেলাম।
ধন্যবাদ সংশ্লিষ্ট অঞ্চলে সকল ইতিহাস সচেতন মানুষকে যারা এখনো এই পুরাকীর্তিটিকে সংরক্ষণের প্রয়াস চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন তাদের মতো করে।

Around the world, coastlines are under growing pressure. Rising sea levels, stronger storms, and coastal erosion are becoming more frequent, and many places respond by building concrete sea walls and hard barriers. While these structures may seem like a strong solution, they often create new problems over time.

Concrete coastlines reflect wave energy instead of absorbing it. This can accelerate erosion, narrow beaches, damage marine habitats, and increase flooding risks nearby. Once built, these structures require constant maintenance and can lock communities into expensive, long-term costs.

Natural beaches, dunes, wetlands, and coastal vegetation work differently. They absorb wave energy, reduce storm impact, and adapt naturally as conditions change. These nature-based solutions help protect shorelines while supporting biodiversity, marine ecosystems, and healthy coastal environments.

Protecting natural beaches also supports local economies. Clean, healthy coastlines attract tourism, protect fisheries, and preserve public access to the shore. Beyond economics, they provide space for wildlife, improve water quality, and strengthen climate resilience.

This approach is not about stopping development. It’s about choosing sustainable infrastructure that works with nature rather than against it. Around the world, restoring dunes, protecting wetlands, and allowing beaches to function naturally has proven to be more resilient and cost-effective in the long term.

As climate challenges continue to grow, the way we manage coastlines matters more than ever. Investing in environmental protection, coastal conservation, and natural solutions is an investment in long-term safety, sustainability, and future generations.

Don’t concrete coastlines. Protect natural beaches.
