Polar bears are furry and majestic beasts that roam across the cold Arctic ice. However, in the past few decades, sea ice in the Arctic has been melting at an alarmingly fast rate, leading the polar ice cap to shrink over time. Because of this, polar bears have been losing their habitats, their sources of food and, ultimately, dying from starvation and exhaustion.

History of International Sword Swallower’s Day
Originating around 4000 years ago in India, sword swallowing was practiced by certain religious priests who also developed the skill of fire-walking, snake-handling and other ascetic religious practices.
In more modern times, sword-swallowing has been a form of mystery and entertainment. For instance, in 1933, the original Ripley’s Believe It or Not at the World’s Fair in Chicago hosted three sword swallowers who performed at the event.
Some of the rules for sword swallowing make this form of entertainment important. For instance, the sword must be 16 inches long and the tip of the sword needs to be entered into the oral cavity and pass all the way down into the stomach.
International Sword Swallower’s Day was founded by the Sword Swallowers Association International in 2002 and has been celebrated every year ever since. Starting in 2009, Ripley’s Believe It or Not has been a co-sponsor of the event. And this is such a fun and super unique reason to celebrate

So many of our statements nowadays end with ‘the world as we know it’. World Human Spirit Day is a celebration of the fact that what we know about our own world is limited and superficial. It is a day to wonder at our achievements on this planet as humans, and to contemplate the endless possibilities we have as spirits.
A day to search within for contentedness and to embrace the fact that we do not have all the answers and that may be for the best. A day to give a higher power thanks for what we have and what we don’t have, for making us who we are and for giving us the ability to touch others.
This day is a celebration of continuity, of hope, of awareness, an occasion for us all to connect spiritually, to gaze at the universe beyond our worldly bodies
