🚨 How to Spot a Fake Journal Website
A journal website can look completely legitimate.
Professional design.
Big claims.
Even an impressive-looking logo.
But that doesn't mean the journal is genuine.
Before submitting your paper, take a few minutes to check these 5 things:
🔎 1. Verify the journal's ISSN
Don't rely only on the number displayed on the website. Check it through an independent, reliable source.
📚 2. Check the indexing claim
If a journal says it is Scopus indexed, Web of Science indexed, or UGC-CARE listed, verify the claim through the **official database**, not the journal's own website.
✉️ 3. Look at the contact details
Be cautious if there is no proper institutional address, the email looks suspicious, or the website has inconsistent contact information.
💰 4. Be careful with promises
“Guaranteed publication”, “publication in 3 days” or unusually fast peer review should immediately raise questions.
📄 5. Check the journal's past publications
Look at recent issues. Are the articles, authors, affiliations and publication history genuine and consistent?
# # # One simple rule:
Don't trust the journal website. Verify the journal independently.
A few minutes of checking can save you time, money, and a lot of frustration.
📌 Save this before submitting your next research paper.
💬 Have you ever come across a journal that looked genuine but turned out to be questionable?
