A delegation from Japan visited Livelihood Ashram today following several months of discussions between Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF) and two Japanese companies working in sustainable business, system engineering, and technology solutions.

The day-long program included presentations and detailed discussions among MDF and the Japanese teams on developing technology-driven solutions for mushroom cultivation and rural enterprises. The proposed collaboration aims to create cost-effective systems using cloud connectivity, software integration, packaging solutions, and AI-based technologies to improve productivity and profitability for farmers.

A major highlight of the discussions was the introduction of a Japanese software platform called “KINOKO SENSEI” (meaning “Mushroom Teacher”), designed to support mushroom cultivation through technology-based guidance and data management. The visiting experts explained how AI and digital systems can help address key challenges faced by mushroom growers, including unpredictable yield, labor-intensive production processes, seasonal fluctuations, pest and disease management, and different cultivation technologies.

Apart from mushroom cultivation, discussions were also held on tourism information systems and organic green orchard technology solutions. The collaboration is expected to focus on generating production data from MDF farmers to help develop future AI-based solutions tailored to local farming conditions.

Following the discussions, MDF connected the Japanese experts with several enterprising mushroom farmers from Assam for future field visits and interactions with large-scale mushroom producers in the state.

The meeting was organised and hosted by MDF General Secretary Pranjal Baruah, along with women mushroom farmers from Rani. Managing Director of Prithivi Pushti Solution Pvt. Ltd. and prominent Assamese actor Mrs. Nikumoni Baruah presented value-added mushroom products to the visiting delegates.

Former President of Rani Panchayat Shri Parameswar Barman and Counsellor from Sajanpara, Rabha Hasong, Shrimati Puspanjali Rava, also participated in the discussions and facilitated the visit of the foreign delegation. Officials from the Field Agriculture Department Rani were also present and extended support during the program.

The initiative is expected to open new opportunities for technology-driven agricultural development in Assam by combining advanced Japanese innovation with local farming practices at Livelihood ashram as a hub.
