Marak, Research Scholar, has been awarded the "Best Poster Presentation Award" in the Research Scholars Category at the Two-Day International Conference on “Sustainability, Biodiversity and Conservation: Implications for Livelihood and Community Development”.

The conference was held on 6th & 7th August 2026 and was organised by the Department of Zoology & Department of Environmental Science, Shillong College, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Biodiversity Board (MBB), Shillong; Zoological Survey of India, NERC, Shillong; and IQAC, Shillong College.

"Pygoluciola mawsynram: A New Species of the Firefly Genus Pygoluciola Wittmer from India (Coleoptera: Lampyridae: Luciolinae)". This remarkable study documents the discovery of a new firefly species from Mawsynram, Meghalaya, enriching India's known insect diversity and underscoring the ecological significance of the biodiversity-rich landscapes of Northeast India.
