A wonderful blend of youth, curiosity, and nature awareness at the Freshers’ 2026 celebration held on 16th May 2026 at Srimanta Sankar Academy Senior Secondary School, Dispur.

The Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Studies (CWES), in collaboration with the school, organized an engaging and inspiring talk for young minds on Nature and Birds. The session was delivered by renowned wildlife biologist and nature storyteller Dr. Nilutpal Mahanta.

Through fascinating stories and insights from the natural world, the session encouraged students to observe, appreciate, and connect with nature around them. It was an enriching experience that sparked curiosity and environmental awareness among the participants.

Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur campus, inaugurated its Vermicompost Unit led by Shri Jasoda Ranjan Das, President, SSA, in the presence of Prof. Jayanta Deka, Hon’ble Chancellor of GCU Assam, Prof. Sunayan Bordoloi, Dean of Natural Sciences, GCU, and Prof. Abdul Baquee Ahmed, Principal, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Controlling Officer of the School of Agriculture & Allied Sciences, GCU Tezpur campus, along with faculty members and students from both schools.

The initiative, undertaken by the School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, aims to promote sustainable waste management at the GCU Tezpur campus by recycling biodegradable waste and using the resulting vermicompost as organic manure and fertilizer for agricultural purposes.

A talk titled “Artificial Intelligence for Accelerated Learning” was organized by the Department of Physics, GCU on 13th May, 2026. The talk was delivered by Prof. Khanindra Pathak, Department of Mining Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. He spoke at length about the use of Artificial Intelligence for modern day teaching and learning and emphasized on learning with AI, rather than learning from AI. The session was attended by students from the Departments of Physics and Computer Science and Engineering and faculty members from different Departments.

The Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Department, School of Allied Health Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, organized a hospital visit to Marwari Maternity Hospital, Guwahati, on May 13 and 14, 2026. Students participated in the two days hospital visit, accompanied by faculty members Ms. Pasang Drema and Mr. Monoj Rajkhowa, Assistant Professor, MLS. The visit provided students with practical exposure to diagnostic laboratory operations and hospital laboratory management.
During the visit, the students were introduced to various departments, including Haematology, Biochemistry, Histopathology, Clinical Pathology, Microbiology, and the Blood Centre. Lab director Dr. Atul Kumar Agarwal, along with the hospital senior laboratory professionals shared valuable insights into routine laboratory procedures, instrumentation, quality practices, and patient sample handling to our students.
The hospital visit helped bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application in Medical Laboratory Science, enhancing the students understanding of real time laboratory workflow and professional responsibilities.
Faculty members and students expressed sincere gratitude to the hospital management and laboratory staff for their guidance, support, and cooperation throughout the visit.

We had the opportunity to observe the intricate production chain of Muga and Pat silk...from the traditional looms to the market dynamics of this heritage cottage industry. Understanding the balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern economic pressures is vital for any aspiring economist..💫

The journal is an Q2 ranked journal with an Impact Factor of 3.8, indexed in Scopus and SCIE.
