Founded in 2014, by Harvard University alumni, I Am A Teacher (IAAT) is a not-for-profit organization with the purpose to build a relevant and rigorous practice-based model for teacher education in the country. The title ‘I Am A Teacher’ was consciously chosen and coined to build a sense of pride within teachers about the profession and about their identity as teachers. IAAT’s mission is to prepar

e caring and confident teachers committed to becoming reflective practitioners and lifelong learners, proficient in the content and practice of the Discipline. Courses Offered –

IAAT’s flagship program is the Post Graduate Diploma in Learning & Teaching, a year-long, practice-based, face-to-face, pre-service teacher preparation & education program. Facilitated by world-renowned faculty and bench-marked against the best residency-based programs the course attracts an eclectic mix of participants every year. Over a 10-month period, homemakers, lawyers, teachers, chartered accountants, and management professionals spend time in a classroom, being coached & mentored by an experienced educator. Simultaneously, they attend theory classes and are guided by a teacher-educator who helps them make tangible connections between theory & practice. In addition, IAAT also conducts certificate programs in instructional leadership & design for the professional development of in-service teachers. We also conduct shorter-duration topic, grade, pedagogy, and subject-specific courses such as classroom management, the teaching of language, early & primary years education, and many more. Learning, reflecting, collaborating, growing.

A glimpse into our two-day professional development workshop facilitated by I AM A TEACHER with the teachers of GD Goenka, where learning went beyond theory and into practice.

From experiencing inquiry-based learning and exploring student agency, authentic assessment and collaborative planning with Primary School teachers, to unpacking classroom dynamics, positive classroom culture, student voice and restorative approaches with Secondary School teachers, the sessions were filled with thoughtful conversations, hands-on activities and meaningful reflection.

19 stories. 19 journeys. Countless moments of growth, reflection and transformation. ❤️

Last Saturday, we had the privilege of listening to 19 SLC stories from our PGCIE Learners 2025–26, stories of courage, discovery, growth and transformation that reminded us of the power of meaningful learning.

And then, in the most beautiful way, they chose to close the session with messages of gratitude, encouragement, hope and love for the people who have been part of their journey.

Because learning may begin with a programme, but transformation happens through people.

And this is only the beginning. More SLC sharings are coming up this week, with more stories, more reflections and more journeys to celebrate.

Here’s to every learner who continues to grow, inspire and make meaning along the way.
