Got invited by 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲 to part facilitate Workshop 2 of the 𝗖𝗙𝗢 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 at Deloitte Knowledge Center Mumbai, designed to develop the next generation of leading 𝗖𝗙𝗢𝘀.

The topics taught were 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗖-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀.

It created an experiential journey as it had a two-pronged 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 A𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵. On the one hand, it made participants work on their 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻- 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦, 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘴, 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴.

And on the other (and more importantly), it made them practice the art of working on their 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, their 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱- the bedrock of the Outer manifestation, and the Force Multipliers in a leader’s journey.

The participants received the workshop well; two virtual sessions now follow the face-to-face workshop in the next 2 weeks.

Hemingway, the great author once said, “All of us are broken in different ways and degrees, and that’s how light finds the way in if we give it a chance.”

It’s been 38 years since I met that gutsy girl at school who had the guts, gumption, and fortitude to do the impossible 14 years after our first meeting - getting married to me and staying hitched to date.

Since last night Messi is the muse of all small and big Influencers, Gurus, and Coaches; and social media is replete with lessons from this superhuman’s iconic life.

Now I woke up late this morning (there was a big screen TV in our condo garden airing the final followed by an after-party at a friend’s place with the choicest of cuisines and aperitifs to celebrate Argentina’s roller-coaster and merciless quashing of M Bappe’s rising from the ashes unsuccessful encore), so by the time I logged into my system, all explicit and implicit management lessons from Messi’s life had already been aired and copyrighted.

But then I too wanted to say something.

Okay, not because of any fancy notions I have about being an Influencer or a Guru but plainly because I felt the most important thing about the phantasmagoric spectacle we all witnessed was not being talked about as much.

And that is:

"Why the world loves Messi so unashamedly? What is the secret behind the goodwill he commands?"

Indeed, it’s his superlative performance on the field. But is it only that? I personally feel it is something else about his persona which makes him the gentlest among all giants…Something which we can feel.

And since we associate, connect, share, and invest on platforms like this one mostly to either grow ourselves or our vocations or sometimes to genuinely give back to the world… getting that ‘something” about the giant Messi could serve us good.

It could help a super-achiever tread the path which makes one a "Messi." (I know it's as audacious a thought as it can be! )
