Now that you know your why, let me guide you HOW to START!

You know your purpose, now you got to break it down. What does that mean? Simple, just like when you eat a chapati, you break it into small bites, you do the same with your goal. So if your goal is to lose 5 Kgs in 2 months, and to be able to achieve that you will have to decrease your calorie intake & increase your caloric expenditure. Basically eat less, move more. Sounds simple, ask anyone who has tried doing it & they’ll tell you it’s not that simple.

So how do we make it simple?
My number one tip for anyone & everyone is Start Small.

If you’re not moving your body at all (sedentary lifestyle), start moving for 10mins on day 1 & start increasing it by 5 mins everyday. Once you reach 30-35 mins of walk. Start splitting this time by doing 10 mins of exercise & 20 mins walk. Now each alternate day increase exercise time by 5 & end of week 2 you’ll be doing 30 mins of exercise. You get the drift?

Now this is solving 2 problems for you- getting you in the habit of moving everyday & slowly incorporating some exercise in your day.

How do you apply this same technique to Food? Make manageable changes like add a side of Salad in your meals, prioritize protein in every meal & remove liquid calories from your diet like cold drinks & so on. And you don’t have to do them all from day 1, make one change, let it settle, then make another.

You know your purpose, you know your goal and now you know what you need to do and you start with a lot of excitement but that initial buzz fizzles out in a week or 2 and you're back to square one. Does that sound like you? If yes then let me show you how you can stay on track once you start in my next post.

Meanwhile don't forget to drop me in the comments what you struggle with.

After having my daughter, I realized that I wasn’t in the best of health despite looking so. I was unable to pick her up (3kg baby) for more than 15 minutes, I couldn’t walk for more than 5 minutes without going out of breath. Daily tasks looked like a mountain.

I knew something had to be done & I did. My only goal was to be strong enough to pick her up & walk a mile. You’d think that's a small goal, well, as months passed by my daughter grew too, which means that I had to keep getting stronger because the weight I had to pick was increasing too.

This is how my journey to better health started & I’m still on it. Today living a healthy life tops my priority list so no matter how tough life gets, I have to take out atleast 10-15mins for my health, now that could be in the form of exercise, or cooking a healthy meal or even lying in shavasana.

People keep waiting for motivation to start their fitness journey, I say find your why. For me that’s to be able to pick up my daughter. She’s 6 now, and my why hasn’t changed. But what about you? Do you know what your why is?

If you’re unsure of your ‘why,’ don’t worry. In my next post, I’ll help you uncover it and show you how it can fuel your journey.

Not all days are the same. Not all months are the same.
July was particularly a tough month for me. I managed to workout only on 12 days, if you see more so towards the end, because that's my therapy and god knows I needed it the most.
Even on these 12 days, I didn't go all out. Some days, I managed only a 15mins workout and on a few a solid 45mins workout.
It's a new month, a new start, let's see how this goes.
Tell me how was your July?

Replace the festive season with the wedding season and it's the same for a lot of people. Save it to refer to it whenever you feel you're falling back in this cycle or tag someone whom it might help 🙌

Yes, you can lose weight AND eat your favourite food.
The more restrictive your diet, the more unsustainable it is.

Read till the end 👇
Are you drinking 3 cups of green tea after a night of binge eating to make up for it? ❌
Are you drinking a cup of green tea after eating a slice of cake to make up for it? ❌
Are you drinking a cup of green tea with your samosa to make it healthy? ❌
🛑 Stop 🛑
Green tea will NOT make you lose weight
👉 It will NOT magically reduce calories from high calorie foods
👉 It will NOT melt your fat

Have green tea if you enjoy it
✅ It has lesser caffeine
✅ It is 0kcal drink (if no milk and sugar are added)
✅ It is rich in antioxidants

It has mostly nothing to do with your hunger or appetite.
👉 It's mostly, physiological and psychosocial reward systems that make it difficult for people to resist sweet tasting foods and beverages.
Ever since we were little we were rewarded with something sweet.
👉 Another reason is familial and cultural practices that people have been observing since they were little and has become a part of them.
👉 Do you remember your parents eating something sweet post a meal? Even if it's just meetha saunf or maybe a piece of jaggery and now you find yourself looking for something sweet after every meal too

DM me if you want to change this habit and improve your relationship with food 🙌

Don't listen to such advice! 🛑
But it works, you say?
What it does is, that it reduces water weight. When you don't eat salt, your body doesn't retain much water and that's the weight that you lose.
But don't do it. It'll do more harm than good.
We need salt.
