The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program organized by the IIC (Institution’s Innovation Council) of PTMLSD College for Women, Gurdaspur, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, was successfully conducted on 21st August 2023 at H.S.D Senior Secondary School under the guidance of Dr. Ravneet Kaur, the Convenor of IIC. The event was spearheaded by Mrs. Jyoti Saini, Mrs. Punita Sehgal and Ms. Surkhab Shelly as event coordinators, with the benevolent guidance of the College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neeru Sharma. The program aimed to create awareness about the significant role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in shaping school education and to emphasize the importance of 'Panch Pran,' a concept introduced by the Prime Minister.
The event commenced with an insightful inauguration, featuring welcoming remarks by the organizers. The spotlight was on the crucial need to foster innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and holistic development among school students.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program showcased key elements of the NEP 2020, emphasizing universal access across all schooling levels, a revamped curriculum promoting experiential learning, multilingualism, enjoyable education, biannual board exams, a three-language policy, and the innovative 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 academic structure. These features collectively aim to foster inclusive, holistic, and engaging learning experiences while equipping students with relevant skills and a comprehensive educational foundation for their future pursuits.
A comprehensive session on the NEP 2020 underscored its transformative impact on school education. The programme highlighted how the policy encourages experiential learning, critical thinking, and skill-building, aligning education with real-world requirements. The audience gained insights into how NEP 2020 empowers students to explore their interests and be better prepared for the future.
The 'Panch Pran' concept, comprising five essential elements—empathy ('Samvedana'), cooperation ('Sahyog'), dialogue ('Samvad'), determination ('Sankalp'), and discipline ('Sanyam')—was elaborated upon during the program. Speakers elucidated how these principles collectively contribute to personal and entrepreneurial growth, helping individuals become responsible and successful contributors to society.
The collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra emphasized the value of community involvement in personal and societal growth. As the event concluded, it was evident that the students were inspired to embrace innovation, nurture an entrepreneurial mindset, and contribute positively to their communities and the nation.
The College Principal commended the diligent efforts of the event incharges and all participants for their enthusiastic involvement, which contributed to the success of this event.
