The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program organized by the IIC (Institution’s Innovation Council) of PTMLSD College for Women, Gurdaspur, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, was successfully conducted on 21st August 2023 at H.S.D Senior Secondary School under the guidance of Dr. Ravneet Kaur, the Convenor of IIC. The event was spearheaded by Mrs. Jyoti Saini, Mrs. Punita Sehgal and Ms. Surkhab Shelly as event coordinators, with the benevolent guidance of the College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neeru Sharma. The program aimed to create awareness about the significant role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in shaping school education and to emphasize the importance of 'Panch Pran,' a concept introduced by the Prime Minister.
The event commenced with an insightful inauguration, featuring welcoming remarks by the organizers. The spotlight was on the crucial need to foster innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and holistic development among school students.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program showcased key elements of the NEP 2020, emphasizing universal access across all schooling levels, a revamped curriculum promoting experiential learning, multilingualism, enjoyable education, biannual board exams, a three-language policy, and the innovative 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 academic structure. These features collectively aim to foster inclusive, holistic, and engaging learning experiences while equipping students with relevant skills and a comprehensive educational foundation for their future pursuits.
A comprehensive session on the NEP 2020 underscored its transformative impact on school education. The programme highlighted how the policy encourages experiential learning, critical thinking, and skill-building, aligning education with real-world requirements. The audience gained insights into how NEP 2020 empowers students to explore their interests and be better prepared for the future.
The 'Panch Pran' concept, comprising five essential elements—empathy ('Samvedana'), cooperation ('Sahyog'), dialogue ('Samvad'), determination ('Sankalp'), and discipline ('Sanyam')—was elaborated upon during the program. Speakers elucidated how these principles collectively contribute to personal and entrepreneurial growth, helping individuals become responsible and successful contributors to society.
The collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra emphasized the value of community involvement in personal and societal growth. As the event concluded, it was evident that the students were inspired to embrace innovation, nurture an entrepreneurial mindset, and contribute positively to their communities and the nation.
The College Principal commended the diligent efforts of the event incharges and all participants for their enthusiastic involvement, which contributed to the success of this event.

Under the realm of IQAC and IIC,Science department and Environment Association conducted 3 months training w.e.f 27th March to 5th August 2023 on Vermicomposting under the able guidance of Principal Dr.(Mrs.)Neeru Sharma .
Er. Yuvraj Krishan,Director Tathagata Organics Pvt.Ltd. was the trainer.
10 students and 10 faculty members got training on Vermicomposting preparation under his supervision. It is best method to produce organic manure free from harmful chemicals. During this training, students learned basics of vermicomposting, its meaning, various approaches to vermicomposting. The students gained knowledge about the Vermicompost preparation method, application method, management of vermicompost, how to make beds for vermicomposting, types of worms used , material used, stepwise information, about suitable temperature and conditions, quantity of material taken etc. Trainer explained each and every step minutely required for the setting of vermicomposting unit. On last day students collected chemical free manure. This manure was purchased by faculty members. It was also used in kitchen garden and S.D nursery of the college. The objective of this training was that the students would be able to set up their own vermicomposting units and work as entrepreneur in future. All students were awarded with certificates. A guest lecture was organised by the Institution's Innovation Council of the college on 22 August, 2023 under activity name " Innovators and Start-up Ecosystem Enablers". Dr. Neenu Sharma , Head and Assistant Professor in Commerce, Shanti Devi Arya Mahilla College, Dinanagar was the key note speaker of this activity.She focused on What Innovation is and in what Ecosystem its most effective and gave real examples to make things easy.
The main aims of this program were:-
1. To help the students and faculty to become familiar with the concept of Innovation, Start-up and its ecosystem.
2. To build a strong eco-system for promoting Startups and entrepreneurship skills in India.
3. To motivate sustainable economic growth and create large scale domestic employment opportunities.
4. To make them understand the concept of Enablers and various Schemes under Government to enable these Innovators' Idea with financial assistance.

A National Seminar was organised by the Institution Innovation Council of the college on " Entrepreneurship Development through Skills". Mr. Samarath Sharma( Consultant, MGNCRE) and Mr.Ajay Tanwar(Consultant, MGNCRE) were the key note speakers of this activity. They focused on the various ways in which students can become Entrepreneurs by having basic skills and gave real example to make things easy. They interacted with the students and did a brainstorming session with them to get their idea on various small Entrepreneurship activities.
The main aims of this program were:-
1. To help the students and faculty to become familiar with the concept of Skills required for being an Entrepreneur .
2. To build a strong eco-system for promoting Skills enhancing in India in the era of entrepreneurship movements like 'Make in India' and 'Startup India'.
3. To make the best use of Social media to promote small business on cost effective platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.

IIC organized an online session on 'Towards atamnirbhar Bharat:Need of Innovation,Startups and Economic transformation in Pubjab’. Dr. Manoj Kumar Teotia, Assistant Professor, HUDCO Chairperson was the key note speaker for this event. Sir through a PPT explained how can a person become self reliant and self dependent. He talked about the reasons why Punjab lacks innovations and startups. The major reason he mentioned are lack of Government support, lack of motivation on the part of public and gender inequality. Sir in his session interacted with the students and asked questions to keep their involvement during his session. He encouraged the students to find their core competencies and try to work in their area of specialisation. The resource person did justification with the given topic and students were highly impressed with his session. IIC Cell coordinators Dr. Khushboo Aggarwal, Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Mrs. Samita Khajuria were also present in the event. They thanked college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neeru Sharma and Dr. Ravneet Kaur IIC Convener for allowing them for organising this event and giving the students an opportunity to listen to such a learned person. 55 students and 9 faculty members attended this session.

A guest lecture was organised by the Institution's Innovation Council of the college in Collaboration with Commerce Department under activity "Angel Funding ( A strategic movement towards investment financing in India)". Dr. Poonam Mahajan , Head and Assistant Professor in Commerce ,Guru Nanak Dev University College, Narot Jaimal Singh was the key note speaker. A guest lecture was organised by the Institution Innovation Council of the college in Collaboration with PDP incharges on 21st July, 2023 under activity name "Lean start-up and minimum viable product business ,conduct a boot camp" for the students on the theme " start-up". Ms. Bharti Malhotra renowned TEDx speaker and founder of Red Ribbon society, Amritsar was the key notes speaker of this activity. Overall this event prove to be very beneficial for the participant as the speaker did justice with the topic and gave food for the soul .She focused on holistic personality development of the participants and gave real example to make things easy The main aims of this program were:-

MIC Activity

An inter class quiz competition was organised by the Social Media Cell of IIC of the college on 11th May, 2023 on the theme "India's Presidency Under G-20".In which 57 students of the different streams participated and gave a tough battle to each other in preliminary test and only 12girls students were qualified for mains.
The main competition comprised of three rounds. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained by the Quiz Master Mrs. Jyoti Saini, HOD, Economics Department . Three round competition including objective questions with option round, buzzer round and rapid fire round which engaged the students for one hours.
The students showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions were very tricky the teams tried to answer them with confidence.
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neeru Sharma said that the aim of the competition was to test the learners' knowledge and intellectual abilities of students. Winners were awared by the college Madam Principal.
Madam Principal congratulated the winners, event incharge Mrs. Punita Sehgal, Social media, Co ordinator, Dr. Ravneet Kaur convernor, IIC and Quiz Master Mrs. Jyoti Saini for successful event. Principal Dr. Neeru said it was a very informative and knowledge enriched competition for the participants and along with the audience.

Cell of the Institution Innovation council of the college in collaboration with Ministry of Education to celebrated the “WORLD TECHNOLOGY DAY” under the able guidance of Madam Principle Dr.(Mrs.)Neeru Sharma on 9th May 2023. A visit to Punjab Agriculture University Gurdaspur was planned. A group of 15 students along with teacher incharge of Celebration Activity cell Mrs.Samita Khajuria visited University for learning the new techniques and methods used in agricultural farming in today’s developing world. Here students gained knowledge about different farming methods. Dr. Vivek Pandey from agriculture university briefly explained about the importance and need of soilless farming. He explained about usage of organic material like coco Peat,nutrient- rich medium,sand, straw, gravel ,sawdust and vermiculite in place of soil. He also told about the another unique methods and techniques for growing plant by Hydroponics i.e is a way to skip the soil sub in different material to support the roots of plant and grow crops directly in nutrient- rich water. He further explained Aeroponics is the process of growing plants in the air or mist environment without soil or an aggregated medium. They also visited Soil testing Laboratory where Dr. Gayatri Verma introduced students with the soil testing methods and equipments. She taught students that soil test can determine fertility or the expected growth potential of the soil which indicates nutrient deficiency, potential, toxicity and inhibitors by the trace minerals.Sudents meet with Dr. H.S Randhawa and visited Biological control Laboratory.where the mass production of biological control agents like Physical as well as chemical. He gave the main preference to physical agents because it is eco-friendly and less costly as compare to the other methods. He also explained benefits regarding physical agents like honey bee,ladybug etc.its increase the fertility of soil. At last Dr. Vivek Pandy took students to the garden where he explained about the Fruit grafting. He told that the different methods of grafting like side grafting, Tongue grafting and bud grafting etc. he also told about the success of the graft depends on the compatibility between the root stock and scion. College Principal appreciated efforts of Institution Innovation council and Celebration Activity Cell incharges Dr.(Mrs.) Ravneet Kaur and Mrs. Samita Khajuria for organizing this innovative visit for students.

Workshop

The Innovation Activity Cell under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) organized a workshop on ‘Prototype/Process Design and Development’ on 24th April 2023. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Sachin Gupta. The workshop was targeted towards final year students, who are about to enter the workforce and are interested in learning more about the design and development process.
The objective of the workshop was to help students understand the importance of prototype design and process development in the product development cycle.
The workshop was divided into two parts. The first part focused on prototype design, where Mr. Sachin Gupta discussed the various stages involved in designing a prototype. He explained how to identify the problem, generate ideas, evaluate the ideas, and develop a prototype. He also discussed the importance of prototyping in the product development process and provided real-world examples to illustrate his points.
In the second part of the workshop, Mr. Sachin Gupta discussed the process design and development. He explained the different phases involved in process design, such as process identification, process analysis, process redesign and process implementation. He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in the process design and development process. He also highlighted the various tools and techniques used in process design such as process flow diagrams, process mapping and value stream mapping.
The students were then given a hands-on session on the steps involved in prototype design and development.
The workshop was appreciated by the college Principal, who acknowledged the efforts of IIC Convener Dr. Ravneet Kaur and Innovation Activity Cell Coordinator Er. Surkhab Shelly in organizing the event. She also said that the workshop provided the students with valuable knowledge and practical skills that will help them in their future careers.
