Charak Prabha-Charak Jayanti celebration
The Department of Samhita Siddhanta and Kayachikitsa, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, to commemorate the timeless contributions of Acharya Charaka and to highlight the enduring relevance of his teachings. The first session of the program featured the inauguration of “Yuganurupa Nidarshana” poster gallery of contemporary Upama and Drushtant created by UG students. Gallary was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa, The second session commenced with Deepa Prajwalan and Dhanvantari Stavan. As a part of the session, PG students of the Department of Samhita Siddhanta presented Charak Arogya Dham an innovative visual representation inspired by the healing concepts and teachings of Acharya Charaka. This was followed by selected presentations from Charaka Prabha – Yuganurupa Nidarshana. The programme further featured a creative presentation on Anga Utpatti by students of the Department of Samhita Siddhanta and launch of Charaka Samhita comic book . Dr Ashwin Chandra C. introduced the second phase of Charak Prabha- “Chintan Nidhi” a thought bank of ideas for research. Prof. Dr. Mohan R. Joshi, Associate Dean, Professor and Head, Department of Samhita, Siddhanta, highlighted the various academic, creative, and student-centred activities undertaken during his report presentation. Prof. Dr. Swati Bedekar, appreciated the students’ creativity, conceptual clarity, and sincere efforts in her appreciation by Judge.The programme concluded with the Presidential Address by Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Haritha Chandran, Associate Professor, Department of Samhita Siddhanta. Dr Anita Choudhary, Assistant Professor, along with the departmental faculty and postgraduate scholars, coordinated the event.

Independence Day Celebration 2026

The Independence Day Celebration 2026 was organized at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, on 15 August 2026 with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.

The programme commenced at 8:30 AM with the arrival of the Dean, Dr. Prof. Sujata D. Kadam, accompanied by Dr. Swapnil Auti, asst. Prof dept of Panchakarma and Dr. Prof. Mohan joshi, associate dean UG and Phd . Dean madam was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Security Guards.

At 8:35 AM, the National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Prof. Sujata D. Kadam, followed by Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, marking the solemn commencement of the Independence Day celebration.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by a parade by the Security Guards, accompanied by an energetic Dhol performance by the students. The parade reflected discipline, coordination and patriotic spirit.

The formal programme continued with the Welcome Address by the Student Council President Mr. Vikas Khandelwal, who welcomed the Dean, faculty members, staff and students to the celebration.

The cultural programme commenced with a solo singing performance by Dr. Priti Parab, followed by a patriotic speech by Ms. Riya charate. This was followed by a group singing performance, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and enthusiasm among the gathering.

The programme also featured a special performance by the children of faculty members, adding a joyful and memorable element to the celebration.

The cultural segment was followed by an address by Dr. Swapnil Auti and the Presidential Address by the Dean, Dr. Prof. Sujata D. Kadam. The addresses emphasized the significance of Independence Day and the values of dedication, responsibility, unity and service to the nation.

The formal programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the Student Council General Secretary Ms Siya Naik, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, staff, students, security personnel, housekeeping staff and committees involved in making the celebration successful.

The Independence Day celebration at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, was a meaningful celebration of freedom, patriotism, unity and institutional spirit, bringing together the entire AIIA Goa community in the spirit of national pride.

Government Higher Secondary School, Pernem, Goa, visited the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa on 07 August 2026 as part of an educational visit.

A total of 13 students accompanied by 1 teacher participated in the visit. The students were given an overview of AIIA Goa, its hospital facilities, various departments, and the healthcare services provided. They were also introduced to the basic principles of Ayurveda and different Ayurvedic treatment practices.

The visit provided the students with valuable practical exposure to the functioning of an Ayurvedic healthcare institution and helped them understand the importance of Ayurveda in healthcare.

Sharadha High School, Bhendale, Qzarim, Pernem, Goa, visited the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa on 06 August 2026 as part of an educational visit.

A total of 25 students accompanied by 3 teachers participated in the visit. The students were introduced to the hospital facilities, various departments, and the services provided at AIIA Goa. They were also given an overview of Ayurveda, its principles, treatment procedures, and the role of different healthcare professionals in patient care.

The visit provided the students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to a healthcare institution and understand the functioning of an Ayurvedic hospital.

On the occasion of Fibroid Awareness Month (July 2026), the Department of Prasuti Ta**ra Evam Striroga (PTSR), AIIA, Goa, organized a Fibroid Awareness and Screening Camp from 13th July to 31st July 2026 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa, and Head of the Department, PTSR.

The following activities were conducted during the campaign:

Awareness Sessions for Women: Three awareness sessions were organized for female beneficiaries in the hospital reception area:

16th July 2026: Dr. Swati Gaikwad, Associate Professor, PTSR Department

24th July 2026: Dr. Akhila M, Assistant Professor, PTSR Department

30th July 2026: Dr. Lijima C, Assistant Professor, PTSR Department

Approximately 50 female beneficiaries attended these awareness sessions. The lectures focused on uterine fibroids, their symptoms, risk factors, early diagnosis, treatment options, and the importance of timely medical consultation.

Awareness Session for Hospital Staff: An exclusive awareness session for female hospital staff was conducted on 23rd July 2026 by Dr. Swati Gaikwad. Approximately 40 female staff members participated in the session.

Distribution of IEC Materials: Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on uterine fibroids were distributed to enhance awareness among patients and visitors.

Free Blood Investigations: Free blood investigations were provided to 18 diagnosed fibroid patients as part of the screening and management initiative.

The Fibroid Awareness Month campaign successfully enhanced awareness regarding uterine fibroids, promoted early detection, and encouraged women to seek timely medical care. The initiative reflects the Department's continued commitment to women's health promotion and preventive healthcare.

As a part of "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” - A National Youth Campaign, a Nasha Mukti Pledge Taking Ceremony was conducted on 31st July 2026 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa by NSS unit. The event was conducted with the objective of promoting a drug-free and healthy lifestyle among students.

The Dean Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Associate Dean(UG & PhD) Prof. Dr. Mohan Joshi and Associate Dean(PG) Prof. Dr. Vittal Huddar encouraged the students to actively participate in the pledge-taking ceremony.

The pledge was administered by Prof. Dr. Narayan Gramopadhye (Professor , Department of Agada Ta**ra) who inspired the participants to uphold the values of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. A total of 68 students participated in the event. Following the pledge ceremony, all participating students took the online Nasha Mukti Pledge through the My Bharat Portal and successfully received their e-certificates as a mark of their participation and commitment. The Department of Prasuti Ta**ra Evam Striroga (PTSR), All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, organized a guest lecture on "Genetic Counselling, Awareness and Its Importance" on 3rd August 2026 for Third Professional BAMS students.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mahendra Ghanekar, Senior Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, North Goa District Hospital. The session emphasized the importance of genetic counselling and highlighted various prenatal screening and diagnostic tests available during pregnancy.
The resource person was felicitated by Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa, and Head of the Department of Prasuti Ta**ra Evam Striroga (PTSR).

On the occasion of National Organ Donation Day (3rd August 2026), the Department of Rachana Sharir, AIIA Goa, organized an Organ and Body Donation Awareness Programme for patients and their bystanders at AIIA Hospital.

Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Yadav, HOD Dept of Rachana Sharir , emphasized the importance of organ and body donation in saving lives and advancing medical education. The awareness session was conducted by Dr. Viraj Gaonkar, Second-Year PG Scholar, and concluded by Prof. Swati Bedekar, Professor, Department of Rachana Sharir. Dr. Thrijil Krishnan E. M., Assistant Professor, along with postgraduate scholars, actively participated in the programme.

IEC materials on organ and body donation were distributed to patients and bystanders to promote awareness. The programme also marked the launch of the Department's IMR research project on Knowledge, Attitude and Willingness towards Organ and Body Donation among Residents of North Goa District, with weekly awareness sessions to continue every Monday for the next two months.

Guru Purnima Celebration 2026

The Department of Samhita Siddhant, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, successfully organized its 4th annual Guru Purnima Celebration with great devotion and enthusiasm, reaffirming the timeless values of the Guru–Shishya tradition.

The programme commenced with Guru Vandana, during which the faculty members of the institute were felicitated in recognition of their invaluable contribution to education and mentorship. The formal inauguration was marked by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp (Deep Prajwalan), followed by the soulful recitation of the Dhanvantari Stavan, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

The event was attended by undergraduate students of the 2025–26 and 2024–25 BAMS batches, postgraduate scholars of the Department of Samhita Siddhant, and faculty members of the institute.

The gathering was inspired by the motivating address of Prof. Dr. Mohan R. Joshi, Associate Dean (PG & PhD) and Head, Department of Samhita Siddhant, who highlighted the pivotal role of the Guru in shaping the academic excellence, character, and professional values of students.

A Green Welcome was accorded to the Chief Guest, Dr. Shirisha Sathe, and Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA Goa, as a symbol of environmental consciousness and hospitality.

The highlight of the programme was the enlightening lecture delivered by Dr. Shirisha Sathe on "Mental and Social Well-being," emphasizing emotional resilience, healthy interpersonal relationships, and holistic living in today's fast-paced world. The audience was further inspired by the address of Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA Goa, who encouraged students and faculty to uphold the ideals of the Guru–Shishya tradition through lifelong learning, ethical practice, and compassionate service.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa. Dr. Nikita Naik efficiently coordinated the event, while Dr. Vikrant Patil warmly welcomed and introduced the distinguished guests.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and organizers for making the event a memorable success, followed by a group photograph.
