On 19 May 2026, the Department of Bengali, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of K.C. Das Commerce College, organised the "165th Rabindra-Jayanti Programme" with great enthusiasm and participation. The programme commenced with an inaugural address by the Principal of the college, Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, who highlighted the humanistic philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and its enduring relevance in human life. In his speech, he elaborated on Tagore’s vision of humanism, which emphasised the harmonious relationship between humanity, nature, and the divine. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of students, who presented various cultural performances including Rabindra Sangeet, recitations, and group songs. The programme created a vibrant and joyful atmosphere throughout the occasion. Teachers from different departments of the college also attended and participated in the celebration. More than 100 students enthusiastically took part in the programme and enjoyed the cultural activities. Overall, the 165th Rabindra Jayanti Programme was conducted successfully and concluded on a lively and memorable note.

A national seminar on “Viksit Bharat at 2047: Thrives and Contribution Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Development” was held at K.C. Das Commerce College on 15 and 16 May 2026. The seminar was organised by the Department of Economics, K.C. Das Commerce College, in collaboration with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), with support from North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Government of India. The seminar comprised five technical sessions covering diverse themes related to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, including environment, agriculture, administration, infrastructure, and gender etc. A total of 142 participants from 50 educational institutions and government organisations across various Indian states, including Delhi, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Assam, submitted 89 research papers for the seminar.
At the inaugural session of the seminar held on 15 May, the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Ajitava Raychaudhuri, retired Professor of the Department of Economics at Jadavpur University. In his address, Prof. Raychaudhuri emphasised that, in addition to environmental sustainability, financial sustainability must also be taken into account in order to sustain the projected rates of economic growth. He observed that sustainable development possesses multidimensional characteristics, encompassing not only environmental concerns such as the transition towards green energy, but also fiscal issues, particularly government debt. Referring to the latest available data, he asserted that India’s debt remains sustainable, thereby suggesting that the government can continue to operate with a budget deficit while maintaining a manageable debt burden. Furthermore, he highlighted capital formation as an essential prerequisite for achieving the vision of a developed India. In this context, he remarked that increased public savings would contribute to capital formation, which in turn would stimulate investment and income generation, thereby helping to sustain economic growth.
Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, Principal of K.C. Das Commerce College, delivered the welcome address. In his speech, he emphasised that, in order to realise the aspiration of Viksit Bharat 2047, it is necessary to remember and draw guidance from India’s rich ancient heritage. He further remarked that the seminar had been organised with this objective in view. Representatives from the collaborating and sponsoring institutions, including Loken Das, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Guwahati and Rajesh Madan, General Manager, NSIC, Guwahati also addressed the gathering. Vijay Gupta, MLA of the Central Guwahati constituency, shared his views on Viksit Bharat 2047 and outlined his vision in this regard. Prof. Amlandeep Choudhury, President of the Governing Body, likewise extended his greetings to the participants. Ashok Kumar Laskar of UNESCO Association along with other eminent dignitaries attended the event.
On the first day of the seminar, three technical sessions were conducted. The first session, titled ‘Environmental Sustainability: Development and Economy’, was chaired by Prof. Ratul Mahanta of the Department of Economics, Gauhati University. The second and third sessions were organised simultaneously as parallel sessions. The second session focused on ‘Rural and Agricultural Development’ and was chaired by Prof. Phanindra Goyari from the School of Economics, University of Hyderabad. The third session, centred on ‘Good Governance and Administration’, was chaired by Prof. Sagar O. Manjare, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University Meghalaya.
The fourth technical session of the seminar, themed ‘Inclusive Growth and Development and Infrastructural Development’, was chaired by Prof. Raju Mandal of the Department of Economics, Assam University. Simultaneously, the fifth session was conducted by Prof. Nissar A. Barua and Dr. Bandana Chowdhury of the Department of Economics, Gauhati University. This session focused on the theme ‘Gender and Inclusive Growth’.
Plenary Session of the seminar, which was one of the main attraction, where all can get so much knowledge and highlight of the seminar was centered on ‘Growth Trajectory in India: Earlier Initiative to Latest Development’, and Panelists were: Prof. Mrinal K. Dutta, Department of HSS, IIT Guwahati, Prof. Nissar A. Barua, Department of Economics, Gauhati University, Mr. Evan T. Munsong, Deputy General Manger, NABARD, Assam region, Shri Rajesh Madan, GM, NSIC, Guwahati, Govt. of India. Mr. Evan T. Munsong of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Assam Region. The session was moderated by Prof. Nissar A. Barua, in his introductory remarks, Prof. Barua referred to the various historical contexts associated with India’s journey of economic progress. Prof. Mrinal Kumar Dutta of an Indian Institute of Technology, who participated as an expert speaker, highlighted several economic issues in which India continues to lag behind. Mr. Munsong stated that the Green Revolution transformed India into a food-surplus nation, while Farmers’ Clubs were established to support farmers and promote rural and agricultural development. Rajesh Madan, the expert representative from National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), expressed great satisfaction with India’s economic progress and conveyed an optimistic outlook regarding the country’s development trajectory.
In his address during the valedictory session of the two-day national seminar, Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, Principal of K.C. Das Commerce College, expressed his satisfaction at the successful conclusion of the seminar. Dr. Sumit Ghosh, Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics and Joint Coordinator of the seminar, presented a detailed report on the proceedings of the seminar. This was followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Bonoshree Bhuyan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management. The inaugural and valedictory sessions were conducted by Dr. Upasana Chakravarty, Coordinator of the seminar and Head, Department of Economics of the college. All faculty members of K.C. Das Commerce College, along with participants from different parts of the country, attended the seminar and contributed to the success of this academic gathering centred on the significance of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the role of higher education in achieving that vision.

On 9 May 2026, the Fifth “Ramesh Chandra Choudhury Memorial Debate Competition”, organised on a North-East regional basis, was held at K. C. Das Commerce College. The topic of the debate was: “The Global Superpower is the Only Primary Cause of Prolonged International Conflicts.” Around fifty participants from various colleges and universities across North-East India took part in the competition.
Mr. Manish Goswami, journalist of "The Assam Tribune", presided over the session as Speaker of the House, while Dr Juri Goswami, Dr Jintu Gohain and Abhishek Kabra served as judges.
In the competition, Ankita Chetry and Preeti Sinha of B. Borooah College were adjudged the Best Team, while Agastya Kashyap and Ritwik Jalan of J. B. Law College secured the position of Second Best Team. Kuldeep Bhattacharya of NEF Law College was awarded the title of Best Speaker, while Nikhil Maheshwari of K. C. Das Commerce College was declared the Second Best Speaker.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr Hrishikesh Baruah, Principal of K. C. Das Commerce College, addressed the participants with words of encouragement and presented prizes to the winners.

The Department of BBA, K.C. Das Commerce College successfully organized AD-O-MANIA 1.0 on 8th May,2026, showcasing the creativity, innovation, and advertising skills of the students. The event featured creative advertisement presentations by the students of BBA 6th Semester. A total of 9 groups comprising of 54 students enthusiastically participated. Students from BBA 2nd and 4th Semester also attended the event, making the total participation strength 83 students.
The program was inaugurated by the respected Principal of the college, Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, who in his inspiring speech emphasized the importance of enhancing creative business ideas, machine handling, skill development, and the overall holistic development of students through such practical and interactive events.
The participants created engaging advertisement videos on various popular brands displaying remarkable creativity and teamwork. AD-O-MANIA 1.0 proved to be a highly enriching experience that encouraged students to explore the art of advertisement creation and understand the skills and strategies required in the field of marketing and branding.

On 8 May 2026, a blood donation camp was organised at K. C. Das Commerce College under the joint initiative of the K. C. Das Commerce College Alumni Association and Marwari Sammelan, Guwahati Metro Branch. The newly elected MLA of the Central Guwahati Legislative Assembly Constituency, Shri Bijay Gupta, formally inaugurated the blood donation camp.

Subsequently, the MLA participated in an interactive session with the Principal, faculty members, staff, members of the Students’ Union, and alumni of the college. On behalf of the college fraternity, the newly elected MLA was felicitated by the Principal, Dr Hrishikesh Baruah, during the programme.

Senior Under Officer *Tushar Dey* of K C Das Commerce College has brought immense pride to his institution by being awarded the prestigious NER Best Cadet (SD) in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Representing 1 Assam Battalion NCC under the Guwahati Group for the NER Directorate, he has demonstrated outstanding discipline, leadership, and dedication throughout his NCC journey.
He has also earned multiple accolades, including seven Best Cadet awards such as CWS and others showcasing his consistent excellence. His commitment is further reflected in his participation in several important camps, including the ALC Camp in 2024, the IMA Attachment Camp in 2025, and the AITSC Camp in 2025. His remarkable achievements stand as an inspiration to fellow cadets and truly reflect the spirit of “Nation First, Always.”

K. C. Das Commerce College Students Union organized a vibrant "Traditional Campus Bazar" on 21st April, 2026. The fair brought together students who enthusiastically set up stalls showcasing a variety of traditional delicacies, ethnic attire, ornaments, and handmade items prepared by them. The event reflected the warmth of an Assamese courtyard gathering, where tradition, creativity and youthful enterprise blended beautifully. Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, respected Principal of the college, faculty members and other students warmly supported the initiative, encouraging the students’ entrepreneurial efforts while enjoying the flavours of traditional festive foods such as pitha, laru and other homemade treats. The lively atmosphere of the fair highlighted the cultural richness and festive spirit of. In the evening, a cultural programme titled "Rongalir Rong" was organized as part of the celebration. The programme featured lively song and dance performances by the students, capturing the joy and colours of the Bihu festival. The celebration was further enriched by musical performances from invited singers Alankrita and Rupankrita, who captivated the audience with their melodious songs.

An Experience Sharing session on the “Mission Knowledge Programme” under UNESCO Association, Assam, followed by a Certificate Presentation Programme, was held on 11 April 2026 at K. C. Das Commerce College, Guwahati. The programme was jointly organised by IQAC, K. C. Das Commerce College and UNESCO Association, Guwahati.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests: Dr. Aswini Sarma, Executive Director of Resource Centre for UN–NER and Secretary General of UNESCO Association, Guwahati; Dr. Nitul Gogoi, IPS (Retd.), Member of Assam Police Accountability Commission and Life Member of UNESCO Association, Guwahati; Dr. Ashok Laskar, Coordinator of Mission Knowledge Programme; Mr. Ajit Saikia, Executive Officer of OIL and Life Member of UNESCO Association, Guwahati; and Dr. Debajit Dutta, State Coordinator of RCUN–NER for Assam (Zone 4) and Head of the Department, LTK College, Lakhimpur.

Dr. Hrishikesh Baruah, Principal of the College, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Kukil Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, shared his experiences from his participation in the Mission Knowledge Programme conducted in Upper Assam and Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh.

Dr. Aswini Sarma and other distinguished guests delivered insightful speeches highlighting the significance and growing role of UNESCO initiatives in the North Eastern region of India, particularly in promoting education, cultural awareness, and knowledge exchange.

The programme was efficiently moderated by Dr. Upasana Chakravorty, IQAC Coordinator. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks offered by Dr. Bonoshree Bhuyan, Assistant Professor.

The programme proved to be highly informative and inspiring, fostering awareness about UNESCO’s initiatives and their impact on the region.

A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized on 6th April 2026 at K.C.Das Commerce College, Guwahati. The event was conducted under the initiative of the Red Ribbon Club of the college in association with Marwari Yuva Manch Guwahati Samridhi Branch.
The primary objective of the camp was to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about its importance as a life-saving act. The event reflected the spirit of humanitarian service and social responsibility among students and the community.
The camp witnessed active participation from students, faculty members and office staff. Prior to donation, all participants underwent basic health check-ups, including blood pressure measurement, hemoglobin testing, and general health assessments to ensure donor safety. The initiative encouraged young individuals to contribute to society in a meaningful way.
Altogether 18 units of blood was collected in the camp.Overall, the blood donation camp was a great success and served as an inspiring example of compassion and community service.

A Free Eye Check-Up Camp was successfully organized on 6th April 2026 at K.C. Das Commerce College, Guwahati. The programme was conducted by the Awareness Cell of Health and Hygiene of the college in collaboration with Marwari Yuva Manch Guwahati Samridhi Branch and Centre for Sight.
The primary objective of the camp was to promote awareness regarding eye health, encourage early detection of vision-related issues, and provide accessible preventive care services to students and staff.
The camp witnessed active participation from a large number of students, faculty members, and staff. Experienced medical professionals conducted comprehensive eye examinations using modern diagnostic techniques, ensuring accuracy and comfort for all participants.
Altogether 86 number of college members including staff and students availed the screening.
The event concluded on a successful note, reflecting the commitment of the organizing bodies toward promoting health and well-being. Overall, the Free Eye Check-Up Camp was a grand success.
