Admissions Open at Pandu College for 2026–27 for FYUGP Courses.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Pandu College has emerged as the CHAMPIONS of the Inter-College Basketball Tournament 2026!

Organized by the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) of Gauhati University under the University Sports Board, the tournament was held at the GU campus on April 24th & 25th. It was a high-octane weekend of talent, grit, and pure sportsmanship.

A new chapter in literature and cultural dialogue officially began at Pandu College with the successful inauguration of the 7th issue of "Charcha" (চৰ্চা). Organised by the college's Publication Cell, this latest volume of the anthology is a significant contribution to the study of Society, Literature, and Culture. This edition is particularly special as it focuses exclusively on 21st-century short stories, offering a modern perspective on the evolving narrative landscape. The issue was brought to life through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Mrinal Ch. Kalita (Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics) as Editor and Pranjal Talukdar (Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese) as Assistant Editor, showcasing a wonderful interdisciplinary collaboration within our faculty. Held at the Digital Classroom in the Science Block on April 23rd, the event was a true celebration of creative thought and academic excellence. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this milestone and helped make the launch such a memorable occasion for our community.

The Literary Club of Pandu College recently hosted a vibrant celebration for World Book Day. This year’s theme, "If you’re into it, read into it," reminded us all that no matter what your passion is, there is a book out there waiting to deepen your understanding of it.

It was wonderful to see students and faculty gather at the Digital Classroom to share their love for literature and keep the spirit of reading alive!

The Department of Physics successfully hosted the National Photo Essay Competition 2026 in association with the Central Committee of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers.

The Department of History, Pandu College, is organising a National-level Photography competition on the theme 'Heritage sites' on the occasion of World Heritage Day, 18th April. The competition is open for students up to PG level. The last date of sending entries is 18/04/26. Original photographs in high resolution with a note on the heritage site must be submitted. The Five-Day Workshop on “Roadmap to Success: Guidance for APSC, ADRE, TET, and State Recruitment Examinations,” organised by IQAC, Pandu College, was successfully completed with active participation and positive feedback from the participants.

The Department of English, Pandu College, organised the 6th Young Researchers’ Conference, 2026 , on Beyond the Text: Perspectives in Literary and Critical Discourses, on 18 March 2026 at the Digital Classroom (Admin Block), Pandu College from 9:30 AM onwards. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mridul Das, HOD, English, who delineated the objectives of the conference, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary inquiry and the cultivation of research aptitude among young scholars. The event was graced by Dr. Sanchay Jyoti Bora, Principal of the college, who lauded the initiative and assured continued institutional support for such academic endeavours, while Dr. Chandana Sinha Roy, Vice-Principal, reflected on the ways in which literary texts shape and influence society. The keynote address was delivered by Kuldeep Patowary, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Gauhati University on the topic “Intersections of History, Folklore and Literature: Interpreting Northeast India,” wherein he foregrounded the intersections between historical narratives, folkloric traditions, and literary representations in the context of Northeast India.

The conference also included an Academic Exchange Programme under existing Memoranda of Understanding between the Department of English, Pandu College, and the Departments of English at Paschim Guwahati College and Pub Bongsor College, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration. The conference featured approximately 120 students and 22 research papers across a range of thematic areas, collectively reflecting a vibrant culture of critical engagement and scholarly discourse in literary and critical studies.
