AUGUST -15 INDEPENDENCE DAY
ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് അടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തലിനെതിരെ പോരാടി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യമെന്ന ഭാരതീയരുടെ അവകാശം തിരികെ നേടിയെടുത്തതിന്‍റെ ആവേശപൂര്‍വ്വമായ ഓര്‍മപുതുക്കലാണ് ഓരോ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് പതിനഞ്ചു.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as a World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. The day provides a unique opportunity for dialogue between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, firms, employers, policymakers, etc. The Skill India Mission was also launched on this day, that is on July 15.

The day also highlights the important role of skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges. It is known that Skill India is an initiative of the central government which was launched to empower the youth skill and make them more employable and more productive in their work environment.

മലയാള കഥാലോകത്തിലെ നവീനതയുടെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രമുഖനായ വക്താവ്, നോവലിസ്റ്റ്, കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ്, രാഷ്ട്രീയചിന്തകന്‍, പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പോകുന്നു ഒ.വി.വിജയനുള്ള വിശേഷണങ്ങള്‍. ഓട്ടുപുലാക്കല്‍ വേലുകുട്ടി വിജയന്‍ എന്നു മുഴുവന്‍ പേര്. 1930 ജൂലായ് 2ന് പാലക്കാട് വിളയന്‍ ചാത്തനൂര്‍ എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ ജനിച്ചു. പാലക്കാട് വിക്ടോറിയ കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് ബിരുദവും മദ്രാസ് പ്രസിഡന്‍സി കോളേജില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദവും നേടി. 1953-ല്‍ ആദ്യത്തെ കഥ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. ആദ്യത്തെ നോവല്‍ ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഇതിഹാസം 1969-ല്‍. ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഇതിഹാസത്തിലൂടെ മലയാള സാഹിത്യശൈലിക്കു തന്നെ പുതിയ മാനങ്ങള്‍ കൈവന്നു. 1985-ല്‍ ധര്‍മ്മപുരാണം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. 1987-ല്‍ ഗുരുസാഗരം, 1990-ല്‍ മധുരം ഗായതി, 1992-ല്‍ പ്രവാചകന്‍റെ വഴി, 1997-ല്‍ തലമുറകള്‍.
1970-ല്‍ ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഇതിഹാസത്തിന്നു ഓടക്കുഴല്‍ അവാര്‍ഡു ലഭിച്ചു. കേന്ദ്രസാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാര്‍ഡ്, കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാര്‍ഡ്, വയലാര്‍ അവാര്‍ഡ്, മുട്ടത്തുവര്‍ക്കി അവാര്‍ഡ്, എം.പി.പോള്‍ അവാര്‍ഡ് കൂടാതെ കേരള സര്‍ക്കാരിന്‍റെ എഴുത്തച്ഛന്‍ പുരസ്കാരം എന്നീ ബഹുമതികള്‍ വിജയനെ തേടിയെത്തി. 2003-ല്‍ പത്മഭൂഷണ്‍ ലഭിച്ചു.
പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തകനും, കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റുമായിരുന്ന ഒ.വി.വിജയന്‍ ശങ്കേഴ്സ് വീക്കിലി, പേട്രിയോട്ട്, സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സ്മാന്‍, ഹിന്ദു എന്നീ പത്രങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഏറെക്കാലം പാര്‍ക്കിന്‍സണ്‍സ് രോഗബാധയില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞ മലയാളത്തിന്‍റെ കലാകാരന്‍ 75ാം വയസ്സില്‍ 2005 മാര്‍ച്ചു മാസം 30ന് അന്തരിച്ചു.
