The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started with an undergraduate programme (B.E.CSE) in the academic year 1995¬-1996 with an intake of 60 students. Now, it has been increased to 240 in the academic year 2013 -14. The Post graduate programme M.E. Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year 2002 with an intake of 18 Students and it has been increased to 25 in the academic year 2004-2005. The Department is recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai since 2012.
The Department has excellent infrastructure facilities with well-equipped Computer Laboratories, Library and Internet Facility (520Mbps). The Department is functioning with 39 qualified and experienced faculty members including 21 Doctorate Holders and 13 faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. in the fields of Distributed Computing, Soft Computing, Data Mining, Medical Image mining, Bioengineering, Network Security, etc. It is consistently maintaining high level of academic and research standards.
