I started teaching phonics to my daughter, when she was 5 years old, starting her UKG. They had Phonics lesson at school from LKG onwards, but in the name of phonics, it was only few sight words & beginning sounds worksheets. Towards the end of 1st term, I became anxious as she wasn't able to read or blend independently. I did my research and I took an online course from Jolly UK and that's when I discovered the actual pattern and the rules of teaching Phonics.

In 6 months duration, weekly 2 structured lessons and 5-10 mins of daily activity based practice at home, made her blend & read words with ease. That's when I realised, the power of phonics and took this up professionally.

Lesson 23 – Bossy R 👑🔤

Meet Bossy R! When R comes after a vowel, it changes the vowel sound. We call these R-controlled vowels or Bossy R sounds.
