🎯The Indian Parliament (संसद) is the supreme legislative body of India. It makes laws, approves the Union Budget, discusses national issues, and holds the government accountable. It consists of three parts:

●The President of India
●The Lok Sabha (House of the People) – Lower House
●The Rajya Sabha (Council of States) – Upper House

💡Lok Sabha:
●Represents the people of India.
●Members are directly elected by citizens.
●Normal term: 5 years (unless dissolved earlier).
Current elected strength: 543 members.

💡Rajya Sabha:-
● Represents the states and Union Territories.
● It is a permanent house and cannot be dissolved.
● Members serve 6-year terms, with one-third retiring every two years.
● Maximum strength is 250 members, including members nominated by the President.

💡Main Functions of Parliament:-
● Makes and amends laws.
● Passes the Union Budget and controls government expenditure.
● Discusses national and international issues.

🧪 Important Types of Chemical Reactions:-

💡 1. Combination Reaction
■ Two or more substances combine to form one main product.
● A + B → AB
Example:
• CaO + H₂O → Ca(OH)₂
• Calcium oxide + Water → Calcium hydroxide

💡 2. Decomposition Reaction
■ One compound breaks down into two or more simpler substances.
● AB → A + B
Example:
• CaCO₃ → CaO + CO₂

💡 3. Displacement Reaction
■ A more reactive element replaces a less reactive element from its compound.
● A + BC → AC + B
Example:
• Zn + CuSO₄ → ZnSO₄ + Cu

💡 4. Double Displacement Reaction
■ Two compounds exchange ions to produce new compounds.
● AB + CD → AD + CB
Example:
• Na₂SO₄ + BaCl₂ → BaSO₄↓ + 2NaCl
• The ↓ indicates formation of a precipitate.

💡 5. Combustion Reaction 🔥
■ A substance reacts with oxygen, usually releasing heat and often light.
Example:
● CH₄ + 2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂O + energy

💡 6. Neutralisation Reaction
■ An acid reacts with a base to produce salt and water.
● Acid + Base → Salt + Water
Example:
• HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H₂O

🌡️ Reactions Based on Energy:-
■ Exothermic reactions release energy, usually as heat. Combustion is a common example.
● CH₄ + 2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂O + Heat

■ Endothermic reactions absorb energy from their surroundings. Thermal decomposition of calcium carbonate requires heat:
● CaCO₃ + Heat → CaO + CO₂

💡 🔩 Important Chemical Changes in Daily Life

■ Rusting: Iron reacts with oxygen in the presence of moisture and gradually forms hydrated iron(III) oxide (rust).

■ Burning: Fuel reacts with oxygen and releases energy.

■ Digestion: Complex food molecules undergo chemical reactions and are converted into simpler substances.

■ Photosynthesis: Plants use carbon dioxide and water to make glucose and oxygen using light energy:
6CO₂ + 6H₂O → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

■ Cooking: Heating food causes many chemical changes that create new substances, flavours and textures.

💡 A change happens when a substance undergoes an alteration. Depending on whether a new substance is formed, changes are mainly classified as physical changes and chemical changes.

🔵 1. Physical Change:-
💡 A physical change is a change in which the shape, size, state, or appearance of a substance changes, but no new substance is formed.
● Examples: melting of ice, boiling of water, cutting paper, dissolving sugar in water, stretching a rubber band, breaking glass.

Main characteristics:-
● No new substance is formed.
● Chemical composition remains unchanged.
● Usually only physical properties such as shape, size, state or volume change.
● Many physical changes are reversible, although some, such as breaking glass, are not.
● Usually relatively little energy is involved.

■ Example: Melting of ice
• Ice → Water
• H₂O(s) → H₂O(l)
• Both ice and water are chemically H₂O, so this is a physical change.

🔴 2. Chemical Change / Chemical Reaction:-
💡 A chemical change is a change in which one or more substances are converted into new substances with different properties.
The process through which this happens is called a chemical reaction.

■ Example: Burning magnesium
▪︎ Magnesium + Oxygen → Magnesium oxide
▪︎ 2Mg + O₂ → 2MgO
▪︎ Magnesium and oxygen react to produce a completely new substance, magnesium oxide.

⚗️ Reactants and Products:-
● The substances that take part in a chemical reaction are called reactants, while the new substances formed are called products.

● Reactants → Products
For example:
• Hydrogen + Oxygen → Water
• 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O
Here, hydrogen and oxygen are reactants, while water is the product.

👉 Physical = Same substance, different form
👉 Chemical = New substance formed
