✅ Steps to Get PMP Certification
1. Check Your Eligibility

PMI requires you to meet education + experience + training criteria:

If you have a 4-year degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent):

36 months of project management experience

35 hours of project management education/training OR CAPM certification

If you have a high school diploma or associate degree:

60 months of project management experience

35 hours of project management education/training OR CAPM certification

2. Get 35 Hours of Project Management Training

You must complete 35 contact hours of project management education (from PMI-ATP providers, training institutes, or online courses).

This can be through live classes, online bootcamps, or self-paced courses.

3. Apply for PMP Exam on PMI Website

Create a PMI account: pmi.org

Fill in your application form with details of:

Project management experience (roles, responsibilities, outcomes)

Education background

Training details (35 hours course)

Submit application → PMI reviews it (usually within 5–10 business days).

4. Pay the Exam Fee

PMI Members: $405 USD (approx ₹34,000 in India)

Non-Members: $555 USD (approx ₹47,000 in India)
👉 Membership is optional but cheaper and comes with benefits (like free PMBOK Guide).

5. Schedule Your Exam

Once approved, you’ll receive an eligibility ID.

You can schedule your exam with Pearson VUE (online or test center).

Exam availability: 1 year from approval, with up to 3 attempts.

6. Prepare for the Exam

Use PMI’s PMBOK Guide, Agile Practice Guide, and exam prep books.

Take mock tests and practice situational questions (PMP is 90% scenario-based).

Focus on Agile + Hybrid + Predictive approaches (as per PMP Exam Content Outline).

7. Take the PMP Exam

Format: 180 questions, 230 minutes

Question types: multiple-choice, multiple-select, matching, hotspot, fill-in-the-blank

Domains covered:

People (42%)

Process (50%)

Business Environment (8%)

8. Maintain Your Certification

PMP is valid for 3 years.

You must earn 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units) to renew it.
