Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility-AIIMS The Electron Microscope Laboratory was established in the year 1971 in the Department of Anatomy of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Recognizing the contribution of the laboratory and the need for the ultrastructural investigations, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India established a Regional Electron Microscope Facility in 1983 at AIIMS, New Delhi under its RSIC/SIF program. This Center is presently known as the Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility (SAIF) AIIMS, New Delhi, under the SAIF Program of DST. Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility- AIIMS has ones of best Electron microscopy facility in India for biological analysis. The analysis covers ultrastructural investigation using 200KV electron microscope, cryo-electron microscope, Immuno-EM analysis, surface topological analysis using SEM and metal constitutional analysis using EDAX. The facility has recently added Confocal Microscope, HPLC and FPLC into their asset.

Yesterday was day of Meaningful Moments at Our Facility

Today was a memorable day at our facility, marked by three special occasions celebrating leadership, friendship, and new beginnings.

We were honoured to welcome Dr. Jagdish Prasad, Padma Shri awardee and former Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, to our facility. His visit was an inspiring opportunity to share our work and exchange perspectives on healthcare, research, and innovation.

We also celebrated the birthday of Dr. Subhash C. Yadav and wished him continued good health, happiness, and success.

The day also marked a warm farewell to Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, Scientist-II, who is embarking on an exciting new academic journey as Assistant Professor at Gautam Buddha University. We deeply appreciate his valuable contributions to our facility and wish him great success in his new role.

A day filled with inspiration, celebration, appreciation, and new beginnings—truly a memorable one for our team.

Sharing moments from the Valedictory Function of the 5th National Workshop on Electron Tomography of Biological Specimens, organized by the Electron Microscopy Facility, AIIMS, New Delhi, from 4–7 May 2026.

The workshop concluded on a successful note with active participation from researchers, faculty members, and students representing various institutions across the country. The scientific sessions and hands-on discussions provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and learning in the field of electron tomography and biological imaging.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to all the speakers, participants, and organizing members whose support and contribution made this annual workshop a memorable and enriching experience.

Sharing glimpses from the inauguration of the 5th National Workshop on Electron Tomography of Biological Specimens, organized by the Electron Microscopy Facility, AIIMS, New Delhi, held from 4 May to 7 May 2026.

This annual workshop brought together researchers, academicians, and students from across the country to discuss advancements and applications in electron tomography and biological specimen imaging.

We thank all the participants, speakers, and organizers for contributing to the success of this scientific gathering.
