The corridors of SGTB Khalsa resonated with the echoes of rigorous discourse and unyielding rhetoric during our recent Internal Conventional Debate on November 6th & 7th. 🏛️
Over two days of intensive deliberation, participants were encouraged to move beyond mere speech, instead indulging in profound dialectics that challenged the status quo. In an era of fleeting thoughts, our debaters embraced the weight of intellectual rigor, cultivating a space where critical inquiry thrives and the next generation of thinkers is forged.
The battle of wits may have concluded, but the pursuit of clarity remains eternal.

Here's what Harsh, Aman and Riddhima have to say about him:

The oldest memory of A***n is his frameless specs and that iconic square hairstyle he rocked back in first year who would’ve guessed this skinny, timid guy would become the central character of our debating journey? You’d imagine someone this famous has some deep, magnetic personality… but honestly, his entire personality is 70% gay jokes and 30% brain-dead humor. Plus his do anything to get attention behaviour. He’s very talented, cooking, editing, photography, crafts, you name it. But these skills have never stepped foot outside his flat to benefit society, but that’s a debate for another day.

We’ve debated a ton together, and he’s… phenomenally average (maybe I was the one holding him back; he’s clearly doing better without me).
It’s not the humor or his mid debating or even his bizarrely powerful flat (definitely plays a part though) that makes him special, it’s his openness. I first saw it on a walk back home from a party; minutes turned into hours, and that vulnerability showed me the real A***n. It’s the same A***n you see today, his openness makes every gossip session something to crave.

If the most competitive person had a face, it would definitely be Mohanty’s. There is not a single thing I’ve done in my entire life that he doesn’t try to one-up. Editing? “I can do it better.” Content creation? “I can do it better.” Art? “I can do it better.” Debating? Okay fine, he actually did do that better. I’m 99% sure he’s a shapeshifter; my dude changes his appearance at least twelve times a year. If I showed you his pictures from first year, you probably wouldn’t even talk to him.

And while he doesn’t look like someone who can beat you up, Mohanty has the most battleship personality ever. Life has thrown absolute bricks at him, but one simple “bhai yaar accha ni lagra” rant from me and he’s suddenly functional again. One thing about him is certain: he always pulls through, no matter what life throws his way.

I don’t know when we became best friends, but life’s been happening ever since. I couldn’t be more proud of what this weird man has achieved, and I know there’s a lot more to come.

What do I even say about Kinshuk?
A person who is super intellectual while debating, but somehow lacks the most basic eating habits. Give a samosa to Kinshuk and a rat at the same time… and the rat will eat it better.

There are only two places where you will usually find Kinshuk:

1. Sitting on the floor in some metro, playing with his absurdly long hair, believing he’s doing something incredibly cool.

2. Trying to lean on a girl’s shoulder at Patel Chest, and genuinely convincing himself that it doesn’t count as PDA. (He actually believes this.)

We all have 5 senses… but Kinshuk basically has 4.
If he ignores you, trust me — he is not rude or arrogant — he genuinely just cannot see you.

Jokes apart — Kinshuk is my best friend, and honestly a genuine inspiration in our society.Undoubtely the best debater,Every argument with him eventually ends with the iconic:

“ *HIMMAT HAI TOH DEBATE MAI AAJA* .”

You literally can’t talk about Harsh without acknowledging his Gaziabadi roots—so I might as well start there. And let me be clear: he doesn’t bother to “tone it down.” Everything about him—his vibe, those chain-draped outfits, his steadfast loyalty to chaap—just screams “Gaziabad” from a kilometre away. Case in point: he and Kinshuk used to ride all the way from Shaheed Sthal to Vishwavidyalaya on a single metro card. (Delhi Metro security, please skip this paragraph.)

But that’s exactly what we love about him. He’s one of us. Sure, it would be deeply unsettling if he suddenly started quoting Virginia Woolf every time we talked, but somehow it works when he drops literary analysis right after recounting (for the 9572830th time) how he barely survived his school fights—because “opps ne fielding set kr rkhi thi.” The guy’s range is wild: football, UP politics, postmodern literature, anime... you name it, Harsh’s got a take.

And though his all-caps Gaziabad energy can make him seem intimidating at first, the reality is—and you didn’t hear this from me—Harsh is basically a teddy bear who loves making everyone feel seen.
(If you think this sounds slightly ho******ic, congratulations: you’re absolutely right.)

The first time I met Aman was on a Google Meet in my first sem, where I mistook him for some other dude. I continued to call him by that other guy’s name for an entire mock, and he didn’t bother to correct me once. I don’t know why, but maybe that is the reason he effortlessly becomes people’s favourite — because he just knows what to say and what to do without any effort from his side. It can also be inferred from the fact that he has 200 friends in college alone.

He is someone you can depend on at all times — from getting your admit card stamped to picking you up from railway stations, he is someone you can always rely on. But maybe that reliability has a downside, because now in our cabinet everyone just depends on Aman to help them with even the smallest functioning in the society. It’s just scary to imagine a cabinet without him.

He is actually someone you’d call the complete package, because he is smart, funny, kind, and has a face that could be considered sculpted — but the fact that he still has no game is beyond my comprehension. Like really, ladies, just look at him once.

In the debating field, he started as someone who used to give a speech of 4 minutes with 100 interruptions, and with willpower, hard work, and determination, he can now do 5 minutes with 50 interruptions — just kidding, he can do 5.30. On a serious note, he actually is one of the best debaters our society has ever had, and this shows everyone that you don’t need to be a very skilled person with years of public speaking experience to excel in this activity. You can start from any point and be quite good at it.

To conclude, Aman is a skilled debater (ahem ahem), a great treasurer, an excellent friend, and an even better person.

Here's what A***n has to say about her:

If you’ve ever wondered what a “textbook mogger” looks like, just click a picture of Riddhima literally ANYTIME. Somehow, even if she’s mid-sneeze or tripping over absolutely nothing, the photo still comes out looking like a Vogue cover shoot. I don’t know how she does it. Maybe it’s natural. Maybe it’s just Riddhima.
And if Snickers is ever scouting new faces for their ads, please take her.

Honestly. The bandaids you see on my body? Not sports injuries. Not a tragic accident. They’re just the result of me not telling her what to eat quickly enough. Also, if farmers ever meet her, they might actually cry. Vegetables fear her. She fears vegetables. Mutual hatred.

Every week she sends me a trip plan. Every week I get excited. And every week, destiny cancels it. But let the record show: I am not the reason. The universe is.

You’ll also find her living a double life. Daytime? She’s asleep. Nighttime? She’s out there, probably saving the city, beating up criminals, or fighting crime the way only a 3 AM superhero can. I’m 80% sure she’s Batman. She denies it. Suspicious.

But behind all the mogging, the chaos, the ghuse, the laat, and the dramatic vegetable phobia, there’s one thing that stands out: she is one of the most caring, sincere, and genuinely good people you will ever meet. She’ll fight you, roast you, threaten to hit you with a slipper, but she’ll also show up, always.
And that’s why I couldn’t be prouder that she’s becoming an Advisory Board Member. She deserves every bit of it.

To Riddhima: Congratulations, you menace. I’m so proud of you and so lucky to call you my best friend :)

I remember the first time I met Mridul— five seconds into the conversation, and I instantly knew how he was the youngest person to get recommended for the NDA (AIR 421) and how he couldn’t become a national asset like the last three generations of his family because of a stupid medical test.

Now, if you ever walk into Khalsa College Girls Hostel, don’t be alarmed if you find Mridul there. No, he’s not lost — he’s in his natural habitat, trying to charm every woman within a five-meter radius. It’s an art he genuinely believes he has mastered.

Mridul is that one guy who will literally do anything for you if you’re his friend. Or, alternatively, if you challenge his ultra-fragile, oversized male ego — he’ll kill someone just to prove how masculine he is. (A piece of information I’ve exploited plenty of times — all fun and games until we actually end up in trouble.)

And wait, his claim to masculinity doesn’t end there. You’ll see him riding his new Royal Enfield around college (yeah, he’s a millionaire — a fact you’ll hear within seconds of “AIR 421”), proudly vouching that *“Bhai, merko chadti hi nahi”* after being stoned out of his mind.

He’s also the one guy you’d call when you want to hear the most absurdly entertaining stories or discuss the most immoral, inhumane, dark, and downright disgusting thoughts about random things.

Despite being the most troublesome member of the DebSoc, he’s not only my best friend and brother but, as he would proudly say, the one who keeps the society afloat — *“Mere aur Aman ke bina ye society nahi chalegi.”*
And honestly... that’s probably true.

✨ Meet Sejal — our General Secretary of DADS, the perfect mix of quiet confidence and absolute chaos (mostly chaos, let’s be real).

If you don’t know her, that’s probably because she doesn’t talk unless she really wants to — but when she does, she’s either roasting someone, cracking the funniest line of the day, or saying something so sharp it makes you rethink your entire stance.

She’s got strong opinions, sharper reasoning, and that one-line power that can end a whole debate. That’s Sejal — never loud, but always heard (and occasionally feared).

Outside debating, she basically survives on chaap, takatak, and music — currently struggling through life without Spotify Premium, bravely enduring those ads like a true warrior. Also claims to be a health freak who “doesn’t eat junk”… unless it’s free.

Her face usually says “don’t mess with me” or “I will kill you”, but that’s just the default setting — deep down she’s an absolute sweetheart (once you survive the death stare). And as a proud Wizard Liz fan, she radiates that confident, self-assured “I know my worth” energy — with just the right amount of sarcasm to keep things interesting.

In the words of Yashashwi and Shivika, "From China to Chandni Chowk, whether it’s breaking debate competitions or breaking bread, Arihant can do it all."

Arihant is honestly one of the sweetest people I know. He’s hardworking, strong, and incredibly talented whether it’s debates, research, or MUNs, you name it he does it all and he does it well. And what makes him stand out even more is how genuine and giving he is. If you give him 10% of effort or kindness, he’ll return it tenfold without a second thought. He’s super helpful, thoughtful, and always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it no matter what, quite rare to find people like him these days. He’s the perfect mix of smart, humble, and kind, and being friends with him is something I’m genuinely grateful for. He deserves nothing less than the absolute best in everything that comes his way. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
