Notice of Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind to NCPCR Chairman
- Withdraw false statements against Jamiat Open School, stop making misleading statements against religious madrassas, otherwise will be forced to take legal action: Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani
New Delhi, March 20, 2024. Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind has taken strict action against defaming religious madrassas and Jamiat Open School by President of National Child Rights Protection Commission (NCPCR). In this regard, the president of Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind, a well-known lawyer Vrinda Grover has advised the chairman to write a letter and withdraw his statement within seven days, otherwise legal action will be taken against him.
Be aware that on March 13, Shri Kanungo had written a letter to the National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) and nounced 'organized crime' to the teaching institute of Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind's "Jamiat Open School Abhiyan". Along with this, it was charged unnecessarily of receiving funding from abroad especially relations to Pakistan. The Chairman also repeated this allegation on a TV channel in this regard. Also, the chairman is ahead in defaming the Deeni Madrassas and imposing absurd accusations against them.
The notice has clearly stated that attempt to defame and impose false accusations like Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind is in no form acceptable. Also it doesn't suit a person sitting on such a high position. The chairman of Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind has condemned the allegations imposed by this notice. These allegations spread through various media channels have affected the reputation of Jamiat Open School, while the organization is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of backward communities, especially Muslim minorities.
Contrary to the claims of Mr. Kanongo, the Jamiat Open School operates within the legal framework and its main objective is to provide students of religious madrassasas with modern education opportunities through the National Institute of Free School Education (NIOS). This initiative aims to empower students who are deprived of mainstream educational opportunities to join the mainstream of civil society. On the other hand, Jamiat does not prevent any student from receiving formal education, but traditional education as well as modern education to children.
What Mr. Kanungo Jamiat Open School is named 'Open Madrassa' is not only wrong but malicious. As well as their abusive comments about religious schools are harming the constitutional identity and rights of these institutions.
They should understand that 'religious madrassas' have been recognized in the country's legal system. Right to Compulsory Education Act, 1(5) of 2009 specially mentioned that this act will not apply to Madrassas, Vedic schools and mainly other institutions providing religious education. Thus the validity of madrassas has been legally recognized in Articles 29 and 30 of the country's Constitution, as well as various state-level laws that recognize these institutions of religious education.
Also, being a legally appointed president, the selection of sentences like "organized crime against children" is a very condemnable and defaming Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind. Religious education is a fundamental right of minority, religious education is also given by other religions and institutions are established. But they have given proof of bias by targeting religious schools.
As far as financial matters are questioned, the Chairman has linked fundraising with Pakistan. They should know that Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind strictly follows the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 for any foreign contribution, and for this purpose he has a renewed FCRA certificate issued by the Home Ministry. Needless to say that any money has nothing to do with Pakistan. FCRA law case is out of NCPCR's jurisdiction. Despite this, they have crossed their limits by taking the name of Pakistan, the roots of their words are lied in lies, predictions and incredible claims.
Jamiat Ulma-e-Hind has also attracted the attention of the media to avoid issuing false statements that are the reason for defaming organizations working for the welfare of society.
