Vicky Sharma, a first year B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics student, has been selected as a Contributor for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026 under NumFOCUS.
Working on the DeepForest project, his work focuses on recovering ecological data from historical airborne imagery using Computer Vision and Machine Learning. The aim is to convert previously unusable visual annotations into structured datasets for real world biodiversity research.
With over 23,000 applicants from across the globe, GSoC is one of the most competitive open source programs. Securing a place at such a platform in the first year reflects strong dedication, self driven learning, and technical ability.
His achievement brings pride to the entire college community.

Congratulations to Arghadeep Das, an SBSC alumnus and core member of Harithkram, on his appointment at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Gland, Switzerland. After completing his Masters at the Geneva Graduate Institute, Arghadeep has officially joined the IUCN as a Young Professional.
In his new role, he will be leading and supporting strategic communications for the Water and Wetlands Team. We are incredibly proud of his journey and wish him continued success in his efforts toward global conservation and environmental impact.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College celebrated its 59th Annual Day on 28th April with pride, tradition, and excellence. Principal Prof. Arun Kumar Atree’s inspiring address, along with the gracious presence of Dr. Ananya Ghosh Dastidar, made the occasion even more memorable as the college reflected on its achievements and future vision.
With vibrant performances by Natyamantra, Audiophile, and Devbhoomi, along with the felicitation of guests, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students, the day truly celebrated talent, dedication, and achievement.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College successfully organized the fifth edition of ‘Kranti,’ a two-day inter-college parliamentary debate. More than 40 teams from different Delhi University colleges took part, making it a competitive and engaging event.
Congratulations to the winners from Hansraj College and Hindu College for their great performance. We also thank Principal Prof. Arun Kumar Attree and the organizing team for their support in making the event successful.

On 11th April, *Kartavya* , the annual fest of *Udaan-the Civil Services Society* of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, was successfully organized, marking a significant milestone for the society.✨
The fest featured three flagship competitions aimed at fostering critical thinking and practical understanding of governance and policy-making.
Niti Chakra , the policy-making competition , encouraged participants to present innovative and impactful policy solutions.
Arth Chakra , the budget-making competition, assessed participants’ economic insight and financial planning skills.
Kurukshetra , the quiz competition, tested knowledge, presence of mind, and strategic thinking in a competitive setting.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and was executed seamlessly, reflecting the dedication and coordinated efforts of the organizing team. The competition was further enriched by the valuable insights of the judges and the commendable performances of all participants.
Kartavya stands as a reflection of Udaan’s vision to cultivate informed, aware, and capable future civil servants.
