On 20th February 26 at Delhi, a shocking and unacceptable incident of ◦ racial abuse, harassment and discrimination took place in Malviya Nagar against our Northeastern Sisters. In a response to this On 24 February 2026, the Interim Committee of 19 North East student unions based in Delhi met the Hon’ble Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Shri Antar Singh Arya Ji, to submit a memorandum seeking urgent intervention in connection with incidents of racial abuse, sexual harassment, and offences under the BNS, 2023 and the SC/ST Act involving women from Arunachal Pradesh in Malviya Nagar.
So Hadungra Narzary, our President, ABSU Delhi Unit along with Secretary of the Interim Committee; Mr. Bipul Chakma, President, Delhi Chakma Students’ Union and Co-Convenor of the Interim Committee; Mr. Bindass Chetry, President, Sikkim Students’ Union Delhi and Secretary of the Interim Committee; Dr. Valentina Brahma; Mr. Bhisma Mushahary; Mr. Tangki Basumatary.
The Hon’ble Chairperson has assured that he will personally oversee the matter on the ground and has immediately forwarded the file for further necessary action.
As members of the Northeastern community, we reaffirm our collective commitment to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. Let us remain united in our pursuit of justice, dignity, and harmony.
We strongly condemn this disgraceful act and stand firmly united in our demand for justice, accountability, and protection for the Northeast community.
We have been with the Victims since beginning and till last and we'll stand united for our sisters
We will not remain silent until justice is served.
