We are the group of educationists specialising in the teaching and learning of different subject are Mass schooling consists of one approach to teach all.
Based on our experience of working in school education for more than a decade we realised that in an attempt to offer mass schooling, our schools fail to nurture talent in individuals and leave many behind in the race. Low performance amongst children is taken to be a normal phenomenon in schools. Schools adhere to the same method of teaching and learning despite the majority not performing upto t
he mark. At times the standards of performance are set low through low quality assessment tools and the marks in in-house examination are set as the criterion for learning. The level and quality of these examinations is never questioned by the parents. The issue goes unattended for years but take a toll on child’s future and career choices when child has to compete with the rest of the individuals outside the school. It is strongly believed by school administrators and teachers that people’s performance follows a bell curve. This means that there are only a small number of high performers and the rest are average performers and low performers. Applying normal curve thinking to individuals is assuming students’ performance as a random variable. Addressing a big class in place of an individual child, results in only top 10 per cent realising their potential. We strongly believe that every child can learn. This is not just our individual belief but the whole community of educationists and psychologists support this belief with researches to prove that every child has the potential to achieve and succeed if we provide enriching environment to them for their talent and abilities to enhance and flourish. Confidence in one’s ability to achieve and express oneself, language proficiency in both Hindi and English and long lasting love for learning for Mathematics, Social Studies and Science are some of the essential things which are to be worked upon from the initial years for future success. Low performance in these essential traits is the result of gap in motivation, ability and knowledge and we promise to work on all the three in order to make a child perform not just in school examination but develop readiness to achieve higher goals of education and holistic development of child’s personality.
