Chess has an insanely huge number of possible game combinations because every move creates many new choices for both players. As the game continues, those possibilities multiply rapidly. Scientists estimate there are around 10¹²⁰ possible chess games, which is far greater than the estimated 10⁸⁰ atoms in the observable universe. That’s why no two chess games are usually exactly the same and why even powerful computers can’t calculate every possible game.
