5 Checks Before Energizing an Electrical Panel ⚡
Before energizing an electrical panel, don’t just check whether the wiring is complete.
A few minutes of proper verification can prevent equipment damage, electrical faults and unexpected downtime.
Here are 5 important checks:
1️⃣ Cable Termination & Tightness
Check all cable terminations, lugs and connections. Loose connections can lead to overheating and failure.
2️⃣ Insulation Resistance (IR) Test
Verify the insulation condition of cables and equipment before energization.
3️⃣ Phase Sequence
Confirm the correct phase sequence, especially before connecting motors and other three-phase equipment.
4️⃣ Earthing Continuity
Verify proper earthing continuity and resistance to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
5️⃣ Protection Devices & Settings
Check the ratings and settings of MCBs, MCCBs, ACBs, relays and other protection devices.
⚠️ Never rush the energization process. Safety and verification should always come first.
